BACK TO THE FUTURE Director Robert Zemeckis, Sam Raimi & Matthew Vaughn Are Frontrunners To Helm THE FLASH

If that sounds familiar, it's because Zemeckis was already rumored to be in contention to land The Flash gig. This new report names him as frontrunner, but we'll still need that salt at the ready...

Last month, the guys over at Screen Junkies reported that Robert Zemeckis (Back to The Future, Forest Gump) had entered talks with Warner Bros. to step behind the camera on The Flash. Soon after, The Wrap's El Mayimbe seemingly debunked this, claiming that the director had simply taken a meeting with the studio.

Well, now Mayimbe is claiming that Zemeckis is actually the frontrunner to guide Ezra Miller's Fastest Man Alive on his first solo big screen adventure.

Obvioulsy we're not going to put too much stock in this until we find out more, but most of you guys seemed to love the idea of Zemeckis coming aboard the project, so hopefully there is some truth to it.

Thoughts? Drop us a comment in the usual place.

UPDATE: Variety has confirmed this report, while adding that WB is also speaking to Kingsman: The Golden Circle director Matthew Vaughn.

Is it just me or does Zemeckis look more than a little like a younger David Letterman?

Cool, thought this was dead, but now that I see Matthew Vaughn I'm pretty conflicted. Thought he would be good for MoS2 but now seeing him for The Flash has me a lot more excited

@EnnisFan - all it says is WB is negotiating with him. Never said for what film. It just makes you think it's for Flash. I bet it is for MoS 2

@Kr08 - does he really have to get his hands on ALL the DC characters? I'm pretty sure there are a lot of other producers who are also DC fans that would love to get the job. why this guy? why why why why why why? :(

Imagine that you are in high school. There's a girl that you have a crush on who is very cute.

You had a crush on her all your life. There is only one problem...she slept with the captain the football team. The most popular jock in high school. He once dunked your head in the toilet. If there are other girls you have crushes on...he's probably slept with them too.

How much do you love that girl? Are you willing to look past that the most popular jock in high school went up in her?

The jock is Zack Snyder.

Right now, Robert Zemeckis is asking himself am I okay with being Eskimo brothers with Zack Snyder?

So far, it seems like his answer is yes.

Please this. I really want Drew Goddard, but I think he is in the Marvel family (hopefully), but this would be perfect for the character, and for Ezra to work with Zemeckis!

Also, have Vaughn do the Superman sequel. Anything that man touches, turns to gold.

@Menks123 - I'd love to see Goddard do a CBM, but Flash seems like an odd fit.

Menks123 - 5/17/2017, 8:25 AM
@Philip - I think he's a very talented director and writer and can use the comedy and lightheartedness of Ezra's Flash and swap it to drama, action, and sci-fi on the dime. He can knock any comic character out of the park, I just wish he was sought after more. Maybe he is, and it isn't a headline grabber, who knows....but he deserves a big time movie in the MCU or DCEU.
