BOX OFFICE: THOR: THE DARK WORLD Set To Take The #1 Spot For A Second Week

While analysts expect The Best Man Holiday to do well thanks to its predecessors status as a cult classic in the African-American community, Thor: The Dark World will keep the top spot as it also continues to dominated overseas. Read on for further details and figures!

By now, other studios know better than to mess with Marvel, so the only movie with a wide opening in North America this weekend is Universal's The Best Man Holiday. While that's expected to finish somewhere in the high teens, Thor: The Dark World won't move from first place as analysts predict a second weekend total of a whopping $35 - 40 million. It's already taken over $105 million domestically and around $275 million overseas, so the sequel is surpassing Kenneth Branagh's THOR. However, with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just a week away, the God of Thunder will soon have some far more mighty competition! How many times have you seen it?

Hope it passes $800 mil worldwide but beginning to think it'll come in more on a $650ish total... still pretty good tho

This movie deserves the hype. I enjoyed this one more than the first.

@Omarvls - I think it will be as big as all the others.

Also Best man is rated R, so I seriously doubt it has any chance of taking down Thor Dark World.

Still going to check Best Man 2 out with my girl, since we like the first one

Unlike Iron Man 3 this film deserves all the success it gets. Whilst not the greatest film around, definitely enjoyable, but can't help but think some important/interesting bits were cut, just has that feel, bit like The Wolverine. Oh well, was entertaining, so job well done.

Should get more money than Iron Shit 3, that shitfest didn't deserve the load of money it got.

nice to see it doing well, because that will mean a bigger Thor 3, but would wish his movies were 10 times better, with a better tone, script and running time

@MAC: Algrim and Malekith are the only Dark Elves we see unmasked. Algrim is only unmasked for a couple scenes. After that, Kurse is menacing and felt like a threat while Malekith is poor. I can't remember if you liked the first Thor or not. I really liked Thor but, Thor: The Dark World definitely makes up in the action department. It's also genuinely funny whereas Iron Man 3 felt forced at times (I still like IM3). I gave Man of Steel a shot despite hearing a bunch of mixed things on it. You should still see the movie and honestly just accept the Earth characters because honestly, Marvel is still going to continue to use them. But, we do get more of the nine realms than Earth.

Yeah, only Malekith and Algrim's faces are shown.

@MAC, first chill bro. Second I just think it's silly to go on and on about a movie wondering about this and that. Just go and see the movie already.

Personally I thought it was awesome. Of course since you've labeled me a Marvel sycophant my opinion on the matter is moot. Hence why you should form your own opinion and not listen to other people's.

I asked Exhibitor Relations on Twitter what they expected TDW to finish with global and they guessed $675 million. Which is a little high to me, honestly.

Man honestly too I'm surprised THE BEST MAN got a sequel after all these years.

Ranking the MCU so far. Note: I still believe there isn't a bad movie in the MCU so far, cause the movies are nothing less of good and nothing more than epic so far IMO.

8: Iron Man 2
7: Iron Man 3
6: The Incredible Hulk
5: Thor
4: Thor: The Dark World
3: Iron Man
2: Captain America: The First Avenger
1: The Avengers

My only complaint is I wish it was longer. Supposedly there were a lot of cut scenes to keep the runtime under 2 hours. Thor is not Marvel's golden boy Iron Man so he gets the short movie.

I seriously think u should go see the movie and judge for yourself

I honestly thought it was waay better than IM3, especially in the action department

Maybe they should have put RDJ in it then it would have msde a billion. I think they should up the ante and make Odin the villain in the 3rd one.

If you dislike the wackiness of Thor as a comic you might not dig the film. Even so, I think there are easily at least 3 or 4 scenes that are well worth the price of admission for seeing it on the big screen.

I really want to go see this again. It was a great movie.

That being said, I am still hopeful for a director's cut! It was a little short/fast for my liking. I would've liked to see more Malekith.

The movie was good. Not great but really good. They really should have stayed in the other realms besides keep coming to earth. That honestly is the only thing that slowed this movie down. I will see it again, but two is the limit...

Melekeith isnt weak, hes just not Thor powerful. Kurse is Thor strong and he is impressive. The "humans" are good. Really.
