Do Latest Batch Of Thor Minimates Reveal Balder The Brave?

We posted the first batch of Minimates yesterday, but here is a new group. This lot features 3 Frost Giants, a S.H.I.E.L.D agent and another Asgardian character that looks a lot like Thor's hall brother Balder The Brave..

To date Balder has not been revealed to be a part of Kenneth Branagh's Thor. Will he have a surprise cameo? Of course this toy may just represent a nameless warrior who's wardrobe took some influences from Balder. What do you think?

Here is some history on the character..

One of the Norse Gods of Asgard, Balder is a close friend of the Thunder God Thor, the Warriors Three and a loyal follower and son of Odin, ruler of the gods. Balder has aided Thor against many of his foes, such as Skagg the Storm Giant and the fire demon Surtur when he warned Thor about them being released by Loki who planned for them to kill Odin after being told by Hemidall, Thor's adopted brother Loki, the Executioner and Enchantress, the Enchanters Three, the Wrecker, and Mangog. Balder is also briefly named ruler of Asgard during Thor's quest to find a then missing Odin. Like the mythological version, the Marvel version of Balder is the catalyst that will trigger Ragnarök and end Asgard. To prevent this, Odin cast spells to keep Balder invulnerable. This almost happens when Loki had the blind god Hoder accidentally kill Balder with a mistletoe arrow, but is averted by the planning of Odin, who creates a shield around Balder's pyre, and later restores Balder to life. On the second occasion, however, Balder is traumatized by the experience as he saw the souls of all those he had slain in battle and renounces killing. Balder also has a love-hate relationship with Karnilla, the Queen of the Norns, who has aided both Loki and Asgard at times; on one occasion Karnilla forces Balder to renounce Odin and serve her, whilst on another she joins forces with Asgard against Surtur at Balder's request. Karnilla's lust for Balder inadvertently causes the death of Balder's love, Nanna - an act that Balder has never forgotten.

Unfortunately not. :( It's just one of the regular Asgardians...notice the same helmet, cape and weapon. Nice thought though because I really wanted him in the movie. I guess that Balder could be one of them, but I doubt it.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be Stellan Skarsgård's character rather than a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. :)

The chances that this mini mate is a clue to Balder being in the film are about as good as Odin carrying around that giant Swiss army knife that the action figure has.

I love collecting these!!! I hope they will have Sif, The Warrior Three and Heimdall. It would be cool if they have Kat Dennings character just because I like her, lol. And lets hope that the Enchantress is in the movie as well!!!

Even just a small part introducing Balder is a must in Thor to set up the next movies... These Three actors Joseph Gatt, Joshua Cox, and Troy Brenna have been cast in unspecified roles. Joseph Gatt said he will be playing a villain "with a lot of action", so he probably a Frost giant, the Executioner or maybe the Destroyer but the other make more sense than him being the Destroyer. So maybe Cox or Brenna one of them is Balder even though Imdb has them in other roles(but they are usually wrong). I thought they announced that Skarsgard was a professor working with Jane.

I don't know if that is him but I think he should be a part of the film since he is an important character. A lot of cool side plots could be done with him, would make the movie that much deeper.

I think that's supposed to be Heimdall, not Balder. The colours are pure Heimdall. And since we all know Heimdall is WHITE AND NOT BLACK, it would make sense.

we at least it reveals that the frost giants are NOT SKRULLS!!!! whoever came up with that rummer is full of ultimates bs. if those were skrulls rather than frost giants then they would have to be klybn and slgrt of the skrull pantheon of gods along with their slave god army.
loki + hulk and masters of evil for avengers villians!!!
