More From Jaimie Alexander On WONDER WOMAN, THOR: THE DARK WORLD And Female Superhero Roles

The actresses speaks out on the opportunity for women to capitalize on the superhero phenomenon in film. Plus, Alexander once again touches on the NBC Wonder Woman show while acknowledging she too had been approached for the role of the Amazon princess but her loyalty is to Marvel.

Jaimie once again touches on the failed NBC Wonder Woman show as she addresses a question about the state of women in action films.
Alexander: I think you’re going to see a lot more great roles for women in action movies, and I think that’s due to the superhero genre being so big right now. Male superheroes are a dime a dozen. Female superheroes not so much. There’s a lot of them in comic books, but not in films, and I think that will change in the very near future. There’s a huge open door for women there, to play these positive and strong – legitimately strong – characters that aren’t just about big boobs and overt sexuality.

Of course, having said that, they have to do justice to those roles. They tried to reboot Wonder Woman, which was a huge embarrassment if you ask me. Adrianne Palicki’s great, but you can’t take someone – no matter how talented – and put them in a trashy costume, then say they’re supposed to be a positive role model for women. I don’t think she got into it thinking that’s what they’re going to do, and I think she played her hand as well as she could, but that project was just not the way to go.

On whether she'd ever want to play Wonder Woman herself.
Alexander: I’ve actually been approached a couple of times about it. I think right now, my loyalty is to Marvel. But yes, I’d love to play more characters like Sif: keep the young girls of the world safe from slutty costumes and poorly written scripts!

She also fields a question about Thor: The Dark World but doesn't reveal any spoilers.
Alexander: Nothing too juicy. Even Sif must respect the power of the NDA. [Laughter.] I can say that we explore the relationship between Thor and Sif a little more in this film. And you get to see a lot more of the people of Asgard, what their daily lives are like. We get to explore a couple of other worlds as well. I think the fans are really going to like it.

Over on joblo.com, Alexander answered a question about how her role as Lady Sif has changed her career.
Alexander: It's definitely helped me find my niche which is action films. And I enjoy them very much. A lot of people [ask] 'what's a dream role for you, what's something you haven't done' and really, right now, I'm enjoying action films. It's what I want to do. I've been lucky that my career has taken me down that path.

Well her Marvel characters a lil the same to the average joe, glad she didn't do it. Looking forward to THOR 2!

:P

Rather a WW movie with the scale and budget of THOR though and not a CW series that'll could end up like Smallville. If gonna make a series turn it into a modern day type of XENA show!

She's a great girl, love her approach on the characters and the seriousness she takes. We all love to see some hot chicks but if they're there just for the looks we loose some great opportunities.

Sigh...if only Phobe Tonkin were a little bit older she would've been a great pick for Wonder Woman. Not only is she 5'9 and georgous, but she also has one of the best athletic builds I've seen in Hollywood.

Look at the mass in her hands.^ She looks like she could punch people the [frick] out!

Look at her legs, like she's been running since she was 10.

But, you know they're going to give it to some 90 pound idiot who looks like she hasn't eaten in 10 years.-_-

great interview. but i dont see how WW's costume was slutty in that failed pilot. in fact, it was far less slutty then her actual costume in the comics where she's basically fighting in star spangled panties.

Thank God someone knows her costume is slutty get her some pants
CavEl
CavEl - 1/16/2013, 4:37 AM
@ Shamo - Agreed, wish DC would grow a pair and put her in some greek armor already. If Superman needed an update to get rid of his pants, Wonder Woman has needed one too.

I don't think anyone who's ever read a Diana book has read it because she's in her panties. So, they won't be losing any readers if they go that route. They might add some more because of respectability as long as Azzerello keeps churning out the great stories.

That's Wonder Woman's original suit, not the panties. Yes, the panties are trashy.

Palicki played the role very well for what she was given to work with. The script should not have been written by a dumbass like David E. Kelly (stick with your Ally McBeal crap moron). The costume could have been an updated version of the one Erica Durance once wore on Smallville which was basically the Xena outfit.

Hell why doesn't anyone who wants to make a TV show about Wonder Woman *coughCWcough* just hire the writers from Xena.

Can someone please remind me who the he11 Jamie Alexander is again?!?! Oh yeah that's right she is the girl that about 15 minutes of screen time on Thor. I'm sorry she is hot and all but she has not done jack in her career to be trashing anything.

Listen I understand that she feels loyal to Marvel but trashing WB/DC & WW ain't doing anything for her career but getting he roles in Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. Nuff Said!!!

Marvel can keep her. I wasn't impressed with her in Thor, but then again, the movie itself wasn't that impressive.
CavEl
CavEl - 1/16/2013, 7:12 AM
@ Pharoh - You can have Diana flaunt how sexy she is when she's NOT being the warrior princess. There is no need for her to be in a one piece while she's fighting crime. She's basically taking away credibility from herself, have her SID dress as sexy as she wants, but Wonder Woman should be all business.

She disnt say that Wonder Woman is trashy. Her point is to make a really good Wonder Woman tv series or movie.......they need to steer clear of making her look trashy. Which is how her character was almost portrayed in the Palicki series. Wonder Woman needs to look more like a warrior cause she is one.

Wonder Woman's costume is really trashy! In reality her but cheeks are hanging out and she's probably popping out of her top off panel.

Saying Jaimie Alexander is awesome, is an understatement. I wish more actresses in Hollywood were as outspoken as her.

My top choice for Wonder Woman on the big screen is Tanit Phoenix:

And WW needs the right costume so she can be taken seriously:

@PatriotsSuperguy I think Phoebe Tonkin would be perfect for a young Diana on the Amazon TV series.

@n1ghtw1ng

Every guy is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to women, but Jaimie Alexander is beautiful.

That's just a fact:

How is she talking trash? She is being honest about that terrible WW TV show. And she even said Adrianne Palicki was great! That's not talking trash.
