New Thor Action Figure Reveals First Look At A Frost Giant

This new Hasbro action figure from the Thor movie gives us our first look at what the Frost Giants should look like in the upcoming Marvel film..

There was actually the briefest of glimpses at what we assumed to be the frost giants in the Thor footage that screened at SDCC. Now thanks to this action figure we can get a much better look at the details.

The pic comes courtesy of Marvelous News who say that they are unsure of the actual name of this figure. And being that he stands only a head above the other toys its possible that he won't be referred to as a "giant". But it certainly resembles the icy creatures that have plagued Asgard countless times in the comics. Will his size difference in relation to the other characters be so minor in the actual movie?

Frost Giants from the trailer...

@deadpool72 - it looks like they are only a bit taller than human size in the trailer...

Would preferred this look & size... comic fan or not I'm sure everyone would like to see them as such the mythology.

But I'm positive it'll well translate to screen no matter what they do, though.
When it was announced I was I was freaking excited. This kills a perfect erection.

unless these guys in the trailers are trolls or goblins....

@Wadey09 good point! hope they are bigger... would prefer to have them be GIANTS rather than BIG PEOPLE. but like creature said, I'm positive it'll well translate to screen no matter what they do.

We shall see...

In a bilical sense Goliath was only 11ft tall and he was a giant, Giant as a term is subjective to how short you are. I think these will work well, but at least one or two huge freaks would be nice.

hmmm i dont know. prob. the movie version will look better :)

the "frost giants" appear to be rather un-giant

Oh well. You can't win them all.

@ Weaponxcustoms: 11 ft tall would have been nice. Those blue bruisers pictured above are like sub- Globe Trotter. To call them "giant" is a stretch in any sense.

Its hard to structure battles between normal sized people and 50 foot beings, I think. Although the minisodes for the new cartoon did a pretty good job.

They'll probably be about 10 ft tall, like mentioned above. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few ancient huge ones, however.

definitely Ymir. i'm very excited for this movie with every thing i see. i've loved Branagh since his movie "dead again" and i just watched his version of Frankenstein ('tis the season) and i thought it was fantastic. he's really the guy to make the best Thor film! now if we could only get Proyas to do a Silver Surfer movie...

Maybe they dont look so giant because thor is like 6 foot five himself . But i would think they would be pretty giant next to say jane foster lol .
ThePencilNeck
ThePencilNeck - 10/26/2010, 7:00 AM
@thunderforce: It shouldn't make a difference. A frost giant's head alone should be 6' 5". A human being shouldn't stand higher than the giant's knee let alone up to his chest.

This is disappointing. Hopefully the epicness of the rest of the movie will offset this.

thor in the marvel comics wear's his winged helmet all the time in battle.the new thor comics are being drawn with him still wearing his helmet.and the avengers on disney xd show thor with his helmet onall the time.i don't understand why branagh is making this movie of thor without his helmet on in the entire movie????
DEFENDER
DEFENDER - 10/26/2010, 7:27 AM
please tell branagh to reshoot more scene's of thor wearing his helmet when he's fighting.he has got to wear the winged helmet 90% of the movie,& so does loki.research every marvel thor comic from the first issue to the current issue's & branagh will see thor with the winged helmet in every marvel thor issue.

the thor action figure from the movie will not sell if there is not a helmet accessory to put on him.

@deadpool72 & Others worrying about the size of the frost giants

I'm betting that the shot deadpool72 put up from the trailer is actually a forced perspective (i.e. Thor is closer to the camera while the frost giants are farther in the background). As such, it is a bit early to express concern about the frost giant's size.

Kudos for putting up the pics though-I had not seen them yet.
