New THOR Set Photos Show Glimpse of Constructed City

One of the crew members for Marvel's THOR managed to snap a few pics of the Galisteo, NM set where the production crew built a mock city specifically for the shoot.

As was reported several times before, principal photography for Marvel Studios' THOR was split between studio time in Manhattan Beach, California, and Galisteo, New Mexico; in which an entire city was built solely for the production. Back in early May, when filming for THOR was in full swing, one of the Paramount Pictures crew members took several pictures while on the movie's set. Though these images don't reveal too much, one does give us a decent glimpse of the mock city that was constructed:

This helicopter was used to film aerial shots of the movie set.
Notice the front mount camera which swivels by using a joystick inside the chopper

Look at that sky.....later we did get a shower and the set turned into a mud hole

It's not too surprising that the city closely resembles the town in Oklahoma which has been recently featured in J. Michael Straczynski latest run of Thor comics:

Hopefully, with Iron Man 2 already released in theaters, Marvel Studios will surely begin showcasing more official artwork and images for THOR leading up to the big reveal at this year's Comic Con International in San Diego, CA.

Very cool MPP. Thanks for bringing us these pics. I wonder if they use the storm they got caught up on, in the movie. I cannot wait for that moment when Thor summons his first storm with Mjolnir!!!

It's cool that you're staying on top of things MPP but this was a pretty boring post. I was hoping for an Asgardian city.

thor written by j.michael straczynski,is a very cool & different way of doing the thor story, when you see the iron man 2 ending & the first few pages of thor issue one you can see what direction they maybe heading.

Cool find @ MULT!!!

I second what Bijous said though, by the title i was expecting 'Asgardian city' too! : P

But i suppose when we get there, it'll be mainly CGI? Maybe??

Very cool find though!!

I take it this town is somewhere near where they found THOR's hammer?

I wanted to be able to exclaim,"By Asgard's gleaming spires!",but at least it's actually SOMETHING from the production.I,for one, would like to see how they depict Heimdall's guard post,as well as how well they execute Bifrost...

Well, if Asgard does move to oklahoma, they better do it at the tail end of the thing. I demand no midgard action until the later half. :)

Here's hoping that we get to see Thor and the Destroyers throw down render this place a fine layer of dust during the course of the film.

I'm sure the Article would have said Asgard instead of City if we were going to get pictures, so I don't see why some people here are surprised.
Also, the idea of having a fight in this small town doesn't really excite me. I guess I'm just used to Superhero fights being in city streets.
