THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Recent Reshoots Could Explain Why We Still Haven't Seen A Trailer

After the first wave of merchandise for Thor: Love and Thunder was released, we all expected a new trailer to follow shortly after. Well, it's still M.I.A., and a new report may provide some insight...

Last month, Marvel Studios unveiled the first wave of Thor: Love and Thunder merchandise. We all expected a trailer to follow shortly after, but it's still nowhere to be seen.

A first look at Ms. Marvel has since been revealed ahead of its June debut, so we shouldn't be waiting too much longer. However, as Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ next Wednesday, it's hard to imagine Marvel Studios would want to overshadow the show with a teaser hyping up the God of Thunder's return. So, what's up with the apparent delay? The Ankler may have an answer for us.

According to the site, reshoots recently took place with Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. It's unclear whether this was to add more of the villain to Thor: Love and Thunder or to change his role in the movie, but it sounds like the lack of a trailer is connected to this additional photography.

Set photos showing what looked like a very weird take on Gorr divided fans, but with merchandise featuring that likeness, you might be disappointed if you're hoping he receives a makeover.

Whatever the case may be, there's currently a shorter amount of time between now and Thor: Love and Thunder's release than there was between the trailer debut for Spider-Man: No Way Home and its arrival in theaters. Hopefully, that means Marvel Studios won't keep us waiting too much longer.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8.

I can't imagine you really think this makes sense.

I imagine they’ll show it around the release of the MCU movie that comes before it, like how they’ve done with almost all of their trailers.

@Schme83 - no way. Doc strange comes out in May! Why would we get a teaser two months before?! The teaser is over due, should’ve had it already if not by beginning of April.

@Schme83 - You are way off the charts and looks like you haven't followed the marketing of MCU films for the past... 14 years?

Strange is where we should be getting a 2nd trailer, not a teaser.

Teaser should've been released weeks ago, February at the latest. Looks like they will be pulling a NWH approach for Thor.

@Frshcoupe - teaser is not overdue, it’s due whenever Marvel decides to release it.

@kylo0607 - Just trying to make a point, probably a bad one that Marvel isn’t holding off on a trailer due to reshoots. Even if they were doing reshoots they would have enough footage/VFX done at this point to at least put a teaser together

@Schme83 - yes it is. Go back and look at all of the Marvel movies and tell me when the first teaser was released in reference to that films release date. And you’ll see we are over due for the Thor trailer as far as their timeline over the last idk…14 years?

I just hope this one is great. It's my 2nd most anticipated movie behind DS2 but im slightly worried about the lack of trailer this close to release. If done properly, this movie could be something special

As long as they release a quality product, they can take as much time as they need.

At least a teaser ffs, who cares it's coming with DS

I'm not worried about a lack of a teaser or full blown trailer at this point. But once Dr. Strange hit the theaters, I expect to see something right away.

They should drop one clip like a couple of weeks before release that's just Natalie Portman rapping. God, I hope she raps in this.

This is gonna be Marvel's peak and nothing will ever come close. I foresee a record 15 Academy Award nominations, including all acting categories.

I don't get why people haven't copped this is just what Marvel do now? We won't see much promo if any for it until the week Strange hits theaters

@SeanMPC - Strange is two months before this film that's too quick to release two different trailers

@TheCoonII - Who says they have to release two different trailers? The movie industry has changed, so maybe disney has realized the marketing has to change too.

TheCoonII - 3/23/2022, 1:13 PM
@Shivermetimbers - Why does it HAVE to change? That makes no sense
QuietStorm

They should make this the new staple going forward. Just 1 trailer, a month or two before the release. Then a lot of 15 & 30 second tv spots. That's it. And maybe have a section on disney+ for all trailers on the splash page.

I agree. When they release a teaser a year in advance people just forget about it anyway. Its a waste of marketing dollars.
