THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER IMAX Trailer Released; New Rumor Teases Chris Hemsworth's MCU Future

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios finally released the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. While the teaser revealed very little about what we should expect from the blockbuster in terms of plot, we did get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy, Olympus, and even Jane Foster's Mighty Thor.

Now, you can see another 23% of the action thanks to an IMAX trailer that features the company's trademark expanded aspect ratio. There are no hidden characters or anything like that, but it definitely looks like seeing Thor: Love and Thunder on the biggest screens possible will be a must.

In related news, YouTuber John Campea (via The Direct) has suggested this Thor: Ragnarok sequel won't be the last time we see Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder. It would certainly make sense for director Taika Waititi to helm a closing chapter in his Thor trilogy, though we'd be shocked if Thor isn't going to play a key role in whatever the next iteration of the Avengers looks like in the MCU.

This movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Either one of the captains will be the leader, but I'm guessing he, Banner and Rhodey will stay on the Avengers to represent the old guard

This movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace…not unlike Christopher Reeve’s Superman in his own respective fourth installment and 1987 all around classic The Quest For Peace.

This ain’t news. He said he would stick around as long as he’s wanted. Only Campea could tag this as news…

The trailer does makes it feel like this is Hermsworth final movie...Taika might stick around for one more Thor film...that doesn mean Chris would be the lead.

I think Thor is becoming Donald Blake by the end of this movie, and could return in a minor role in a future movie (if there is one), but judging by the trailer, it does seem like this might be his final one...Chris is 39, has been playing the character for 11 years, and he is the only one from the "Original Six" still appearing on the big screen...also, She-Hulk is replacing Bruce, and Kate is replacing Clint, I think the MCU has a clear intention of introducing new female leads (oh no, the M-She-U!) after the departure of Nat and (possibly) Wanda.

Dont know, getting the feeling Disney is moving forward with new characters, which makes sense, considering the first Avengers movie came out A DECADE AGO.
