Earlier this week, Marvel Studios finally released the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. While the teaser revealed very little about what we should expect from the blockbuster in terms of plot, we did get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy, Olympus, and even Jane Foster's Mighty Thor.
Now, you can see another 23% of the action thanks to an IMAX trailer that features the company's trademark expanded aspect ratio. There are no hidden characters or anything like that, but it definitely looks like seeing Thor: Love and Thunder on the biggest screens possible will be a must.
In related news, YouTuber John Campea (via The Direct) has suggested this Thor: Ragnarok sequel won't be the last time we see Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder. It would certainly make sense for director Taika Waititi to helm a closing chapter in his Thor trilogy, though we'd be shocked if Thor isn't going to play a key role in whatever the next iteration of the Avengers looks like in the MCU.
This movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
