THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Promo Art Reveals Closer Look At Thor's Colorful Costume And Teases New Asgard Plans

Some newly revealed Thor: Love and Thunder promo art gives us an even closer look at the God of Thunder's red, blue, and gold battle armour, while we also learn more about the MCU's take on New Asgard...

We're not expecting Marvel Studios to drop the new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer over Easter weekend, but that sneak peek is long overdue at this point. We're hoping it will be here in time for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and new merchandise continues to find its way online.

Today, we have a closer look at the God of Thunder's impressive new MCU costume. Clad in red, blue, and gold, this is the most colourful take on Thor to date, and a design that definitely pays homage to the comic books (in this case, it's the battle armour designed by Walter Simonson and Sal Buscema).

A mug for the movie, meanwhile, teases the evolution of New Asgard. It appears to have become a tourist hotspot since Thor, Valkyrie, and the rest of the Asgardians moved there. A LEGO set for Thor: Love and Thunder even suggests it will be attacked by Gorr at some point in the blockbuster.

We're hoping that trailer isn't too far off now, so you'll want to keep checking back here this week!

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8.

@rychlec - comic accuracy not always good thing as much people keep saying it

@rychlec - I'm just afraid of Taika falling into the same lazy trap that Jimmy Gunn did with GotG 2. In other words; simply doubling-down on whatever zany, comedic, colorful element that fans liked from the prior movie. 🤨

@SuperiorHeckler - Yeah, I'm sure he will... and a lot of people obviously enjoy his take on Thor. I absolutely don't but that's just me.

@rychlec - you’re not the only one. I absolutely hated Ragnarok with all its comedy, it might make a great movie but it’s not really a true to the source material Thor movie, big even close. And yes I agreed this next one is likely to be even more of the same.

I actually think the gold will probably look good on screen but who knows until we get a trailer

Maybe a bad comparison but I think it might look better on film.

I know I’ll love this movie and I like that they’ve given him a helmet (though the one from the first film was FAR better) but he looks pretty ostentatious and silly. Too busy. And gold. So much gold. Pretty goofy. Hope it looks better in the movie.

Not a fan of that costume.

Eh... Gotta check it in live action.

Looks like a Wolverine costume more than Thor's.

Should've left the helmet-mask design to Jane as Thor really has no reason for it. Also. Alsoooo...

Where. Is. The. Trailer?

Thor looks to much like giant action figures that was made

@dragon316 - I thought you didn't care about other people's opinions? Aren't you always telling people (or attempting to) think for themselves?

Calling it now. His suit is made on Xandar by the Nova Corps.

@SonOfAGif - Bang on! Precisely what I've theorised ever since promo art of this costume had surfaced a while back.

What if he and the guardians had a hand in re-establishing the Nova corps, or at least aiding them in some way during the course of the story, if not re-establish?
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 4/17/2022, 4:37 PM
@Killuminatic - I could see that being the opening sequence. The Guardians and Thor on Xandar fighting off criminals who have taken over the planet since Thanos decimated the Xandar and the Nova Corps. And helping re-establish the Nova Corps and then he has to leave the Guardians to return to Earth because of The God Butcher.

I’m predicting that something happens in Dr Strange & The Multiverse Of Madness that carries over into Thor: Love & Thunder which would be spoiled by a trailer. We won’t get the Thor trailer until after the release of Dr Strange.

Looks like it took a lot of inspiration from this look by Walt Simonson:

I got a feeling this movie is gonna really suck. We'll see what happens, but no trailer this close to the movie does not bode well because usually the lack of a trailer means the movie is horrible and no one wants you to know until it's too late.
