THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Star Tessa Thompson Explains Valkyrie Costume Leak: "I'm So Sorry, Marvel"

As you may recall, a shot of Tessa Thompson donning her new Valkyrie costume in Thor: Love and Thunder found its way online earlier this year, & the actress has now taken full responsibility for the leak.

Fans were waiting a long time for a first official look at Thor: Love and Thunder, but an unexpected behind-the-scenes glimpse of one character's updated costume did find its way online earlier this year.

After being shared online from an unknown source, a shot of Tessa Thompson sporting her new Valkyrie duds did the rounds back in January. Marvel Studios/Disney did sent out a few takedown notices, but it made little difference since the image had been so widely circulated by that point.

Since the photo was a selfie, it was assumed Thompson herself was behind for the leak, and the actress has now taken (partial) responsibility during an interview with Fandango.

“See, I sent a picture to my stepmom and she posted it on Instagram," she admitted. "Yeah, [it] wasn’t me and it’s a big thing. She feels terrible. I’m so sorry, Marvel. I’m so sorry, Disney. It’s not my fault. I will never – I’m never gonna send selfies again.”

Thompson is far from the first Marvel Studios star to divulge a spoiler (nothing is likely to top Mark Ruffalo inadvertently live-streaming the world premiere of Thor: Ragnarok), so we can't imagine Kevin Feige came down too hard on her for this.

Part of Valkyrie's Love and Thunder arc will focus on her search for a queen, but we know she will also see plenty of action. Shots of the Asgardian warrior clashing swords with Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) has led to speculation that she may fall in battle, but we don't see Taika Waititi/Marvel Studios killing off arguably the MCU's most popular and prominent LGBTQ+ character.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.

@RedFury - fandom is full of trolls and asshats. its few and far between to find people who are having genuine fun anymore. just all complaints about their disappointment creators didn't adhere to their own head canon, fan fiction and years of built up message board theories.

@micvalpro - I just find it funny when people comment on things they think shouldn't be news. Giving clicks and comments to something you believe isn't worthy of being news only gives whoever posted the article more of a reason to post more news of the sort. As they say, even bad publicity is good publicity.

Of course you do you though. I'll just idly sit by and chuckle at the absurdity of life.

@GeneralZod - Watch the interview. You're missing the playful context of her saying that. It's like when I drop something or spill something and look over to the nearest person and say, "what'd you do that for?"

She's not actually absolving herself of blame.

Kudos to them for being able to keep stuff to themselves as much as they do. I got 11 brothers and sisters and I'd be telling them everything

"Ongod gorr gon kill me in the second act. Look at the blood on my face "

Gorr should kill one of the four, I dont see them killing Korg, killing Jane after coming back wouldnt make sense, and killing Thor...maybe? still, killing the black gay friend would feel like a cheap '80s slasher movie, then again, we saw her fighting Gorr in the trailer.
Having say all that, Thor should get a break after losing his best friend, the Warriors Three, his brother, his parents, Tony, Steve...he should get a break, this seems sadistic at this point.

Ruffalo made the biggest mistake of all time.

I'm paraphrasing here but he told the world in an interview basiclly ",wait until you see the end of IW, everyone dies!" He said that months in adavance.

Marvel countered that slip by having the MCU cast especially Holland give fake spoilers for months leading up to the films release. It worked. Everyone forgot about what Mark said chalking it up to Marvel playing games. Remeber all the fake slip ups by Holland and others. It was all to cover the greatest slip up of all time.

@Waddles - 😂😂😂😂

If was in the MCU letting a spoiler slip the first thing i would do is bring up Ruffalo.

I'm fine with her as Brunnhilde. I only wish she'd be directed by a director who knows the source material. Brunnhilde ain't a drinking slob who sells people as slaves and mocks Thor and declines to offer help when asked. Taika, you're a hack. Eowyn in LOTR is what a live-action Valkyrie should be like.
