One Of THOR: RAGNAROK's Best Lines Was Written By A Make-A-Wish Kid
Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be the most exciting movie of the winter and in a new interview, Chris Hemsworth has made a surprising revelation about one of the first trailer's most memorable lines...
One of the coolest moments in the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok came when The Hulk is revealed to be the God of Thunder's opponent. However, rather than reacting with fear, the hero points out that the Jade Giant is actually a friend from work. It's a funny line and one which will probably work even better when we see it in context but the joke actually has a surprisingly touching origin story.
During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Hemsworth revealed that the line was actually written on the spot by a child who was visiting the Thor: Ragnarok set from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid on set that day […] and in between the takes I was talking with him, and he goes, ‘You know, you should say, He’s a friend from work!‘" Hemsworth was then allowed to do exactly that thanks to director Taika Waititi encouraging his cast to improvise.
The filmmaker has previously said that around 80% of the movie's dialogue was improvised and that's definitely a departurefor the movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (it has been said that Robert Downey Jr. came up with a lot of his own material in the first Iron Man but that's probably because the movie didn't have a finished script).
