THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Deleted Scene Reveals Just How Much Of The Movie's Final Act Was Reshot

#ReleaseTheWaititiCut? We're not sure about that, but another newly released Thor: Love and Thunder deleted scene shows how different the movie was before reshoots reshaped the blockbuster's final act.

Marvel Studios released a version of Thor: Love and Thunder that was a breezy, two-hour comedy. However, it feels like there's a very different version of the movie that exists, something that's evident from this latest deleted scene.

Rather than stealing Zeus' Thunderbolt after clashing with him in Omnipotence City, Thor is greeted by the Olympian on Earth where he is given the mighty weapon instead. At the same time, Mjolnir appears outside Jane Foster's hospital room window to tempt her into becoming the Mighty Thor again, prompting her to meet Thor on Earth rather than joining him later in the battle.

This leads to Zeus returning home and Jane heading off to Gorr the God Butcher's final destination alongside the God of Thunder on the back of Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher.

This is obviously vastly different to what we saw in the theatrical cut of Thor: Love and Thunder and suggests the plan wasn't always for Zeus to become an antagonist in the MCU. That might mean Hercules was a last-minute addition, though it's always possible he was originally going to be an ally instead of an enemy.

Either way, between what's essentially an alternate ending and the fact that The Grandmaster and Eitri were both cut from the movie, it's clear Thor: Love and Thunder was altered greatly through additional photography. We're not sure why it went through such extensive changes, but it feels like there's a cut somewhere that is likely superior to what premiered on Disney+ yesterday.

"Too silly to take seriously, there’s still a lot to love about Thor: Love and Thunder," we said in our review earlier this year, "but unlike Thor: Ragnarok, it’s unlikely to be a movie you’ll fall in love with. Marvel Studios may be developing a quantity over quality issue."

Mjolnir watching through the window really pretty funny, just not within the context of the scene. Glad they cut this (and kept Zeus is an asshole)

@bkmeijer1 - I think these two scenes would have done A LOT to make this movie better. Giving Zeus an actual character arc predicated on respect, as opposed to the utter buffoonery we got in the release, would have helped matters greatly. Funny how Taika let this scene breathe and flow in a more quiet way and it ended up being so much more powerful. Someone REALLY needs to do a hard fan edit of this thing and retcon the entire Omnipotent City crap

@SauronthePower - I think Zeus being a nice guy does give him more of an arc, but on the other hand I also like him being a dick (because he kinda was in Greek Mythology) as it also sets up an angry Hercules

@bkmeijer1 - agree but I think Taika playing up the quieter, more emotional moments, as opposed to the sledgehammer dumb humor, really let the scenes breathe. Have you seen RoP Ep3 yet??

@SauronthePower - true. I think it could've been balanced better, and knowing Taika's previous movies he's no stranger to that. Even though his humor is really hit-or-miss, I think he knows how to push emotional buttons.

And I haven't gotten around to RoP yet. I'm now just waiting for all episodes to be online to watch it all in the week leading up to the finale.

Finally watched it yesterday, truly awful movie. Bale with a hyped up cameo is unforgivable

Finally saw it, and I actually liked it. It tilts the genre into absurdity but was still fun/funny. It oddly reminded me of Time Bandits.

I saw it yesterday. I went in with low expectations because of the reception it received here, and I ended up kind of liking it. I mean, it has a lot of issues, but I was mostly entertained. Although the omnipotence city scene dragged on for far too long, and Gorr simply did not fit the movie's tone. At some point, I also had the sad realization that the MCU has turned Thor and Hulk into Valhallen and The Infraggable Krunk.

Watched this yesterday for the 2nd time since release and i have mixed feelings about it.

I have mixed feelings for Thor as a character in the MCU as it is, i think hemsworth is a great shout and suits him well and hope he continues for a long time, i didnt like the first movie, i thought dark world was eeeesh loved ragnarok and what they did with the character, was not a fan of fat thor, and in this movie he has some scenes where he absolutely nails it then in others its awful...

I dont like how taika whether his own decision or the ones pulling the strings have made Thor into a bumbling idiot, they did it with Black widow in i think it may have been winter soldier where she became a bit of an air head for a bit , almost like a cliche blonde bimbo cheer leader trope, and now thor has become that.

I dont mind a bit of comedy at all in these movies, but they started very dark in some instances with a dash of comedy, now as daft as it may seem have become camp comic books in themselves, which you would think is great as they are after all comic book movies.

but its like the 80s early 90s wrestling days where everyone was a cartoon character and ridiculous and over the top, which was great at the time, but in todays era it just wouldnt work, and thats how i see some of the characters in these marvel movies now.

I think this phase has been a bit meh , you can see things bubbling in the background and obviously its going to be strange that brings through villains and i believe the incursion and collision of 2 different universe will lead to a merge and explain mutants and the appearance, and re appearance of some characters .

But with this movie in particular i feel like its the last jedi for me again, we have all these characters, this lore , characters built to their potential, and then someone steps in and just sabotages everything and then leaves the project and says ''HA now what ya gonna do?'' thats what i felt with TLJ johnson took a steamer on it and ruined the story and the next had to deal with the mess.

I dont see love being a part going forward, that can be sorted just by saying stay on asgard or moving on somewhere, as can most of the characters they can be retconned so its not all bad, i just want to move away from this goofball thor and have him live upto god status in more than just the odd scene.

then there were the kid scenes urgh, im not sure if it was the scenes or the actors, but they were awful, and i am a long time Guns N roses fan, but i didnt get the constant need to shovel them down our throat and the kid calling himself Axl, its minor but i felt it was really cringeworthy , then the scene at the end with the mini Thors, parts of it looked great but then it just goes beyond stupid.

The love affair between mjolnir and stormbreaker i dont get, it brings a couple of laughs but i dunno in this world we live in have we moved beyond same sex relationships being needed in every scene to now you can love your tools and not be frowned upon.

But my biggest gripe and what took me out the movie so many times, is how cheap everything looks, everything looks like plastic and a toy, from Thors armor , the hammer and stormbreaker looked lightweight and cheap, his cape was shockingly red and pristine, and zeus' bolt looks awful in the hand.

It is not the worse marvel movie by far, it sits above cap,IM3, the first 2 thor movies, BW,eternals and a couple of others but its not great either.

I think most of these are valid points. I wouldn't call the movie crap or shite or the worst. The scene where they first entered the Shadow Realm was exceptionally well done and Taiki really can bring some of those short themes to life. The Shadow creatures were really well done too. And, let's face it, humor has been a big part of the Marvel formula. Its what appeases the masses and is partly what makes these movies so fun and enjoyable. But, where I think this movie fell short was that it pushed the boundary of absurdity too far. Zeus, the God of Gods is a flake? And the ONLY gods we focused on were beyond absurd? Not everyone should have been silly. Even Gorr - they way he "tormented" the kids took all of the serious that the movie should have led into way. AND yes, there wasn't enough of that in action for us to care. It was a huge miss and I'm surprised this version of the movie made it out to be honest. What worked for Ragnorok was the balance and Hela was vicious! I dunno - I'm sure I'm just repeating what everyone else is saying. I just felt compelled to add my $.02... I wanted I really wanted to love it, but left confused, conflicted, and disappointed....

This scene breathes and contains the tomfoolery to just peripheral icing as opposed to a blunt hammer and it results in SO much better of a product. The real tragedy in all if this is that Taika actually shot a pretty decent movie but went full-on self indulgent, Michael Cimino and ended up destroying something that clearly could have been good.

I don't know about the overall story changes. But maybe they thought this felt too much like one of the Thor and Odin scenes? Which I don't mind; I thought this was rather nice.

I'm so conflicted about this movie...but I will say this...

The lightning bolt was stupid and useless. Thor didn't even fight with it correctly, making it look ridiculous as he swung it around, and he could have just as easily been fighting with an indestructible stick.
