Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s "Thor" and "Marvel’s The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

this movie is the CBM of the year, srry but MOS didnt like to me so much it has a poor script, maybey has good fx but the story es ..."meh", for other side the wolverine maybey....in fox style is good but they rape a lot of story and characters, its all i gonna say because i wont going to say spoiers (never know...maybey someone in the entire world didnt see it yet) and iron man 3....they screw it with the style of "kiss kiss bang bang" of the movie and the mandarin

I wouldn't say its great, it was a good fun film but it had some problems that kept it from achieving its full potential. The ending was SSSSOOO awesome though.

The movie was good but the jokes every other five minutes took me out of it. It could have been great but it was just good. The fight scene at the end was awesome, it was like the Zod fight in Man of Steel.

Just saw it and it was not bad, and there was a lot of comedy, it was weird hearing the whole theater crack up for an hour in an action movie. Action was solid and of course Loki stroll the show.
The villains except for curse we're very underwhelming.

It wasn't a great movie. Sorry but it wasn't. I don't think any of the cbms this year were that great. The ending was really awesome though!

What was SHIELD gonna do? lol xD Malekith is the most powerful MCU villain right now and Shield wouldn't nothing to him.

I'm not gonna try to rank this movie with the other CBM's of the year, but I will say that it's final sequence was the only one this year that wasn't disappointing IMO.

I don't think Marvel is ever going to make a CBM that's incredibly complex, emotional or dramatic and crafted in somewhat generic ways...

I don't think they ever need to.

The Question:
What makes this movie "great"?

The Possible Explanation:
There is no original movie within the franchise to reference it to besides its prequel. There is no other movie universe but the one we have now. Therefore, it would be best to ask this question once a "re-boot/remake" has been produced. Perhaps from now and forever what we have now will be the standard for all other "reboots/remakes or retelling" that come after it.

MOS.

Thor.

Iron Man.

That's how 2013 went down for me CBM wise.

Great movie. Visually, beautiful. Great action and humor. Emotional as well. Darcy needs to die though. Can we get more of Sif and the Warriors Three in Ragnarok please?

Thor: The Dark World is a good movie with too much forced humor. There's no time for anything to actually resonate before they cut to a series of jokes.

Firstly, I said that. Secondly, no burn. Simply a passive aggressive sycophant defending his Precious from seemingly factual information and his lackeys rallying and celebrating with such stupidity.

Stick and stones dude.

@DatSexyFaora

You can't have drama and comedy at the same time.

The hell you can't in my opinion. The audience I was watching the movie with seemed quite fine with the mix.

"Dude, are you even paying attention to my comments?

I've been saying Thor: TDW having someone try to contact S.H.I.E.L.D. for help makes it better than IM3, lol."

Sorry lol that's true. Quite frankly, Shield weren't gonna do anything lol, Tony had it coming, he threatened a terrorist live on natinal television. If I was shield, I would grab my popcorn and sit back and watch.

This movie was NOT more entertaining or even fun than Iron Man 3.

It wasn't even as good as Thor 1.
Malekith was an under-developed forgettable villain.

I enjoyed Thor TDW., I feel that it held my attention with the action, drama, and comedy. The only problem I have with the film is that it needed more character/relationship development because some areas seem rushed and didn't segue well. I liked the comedy because it made me laugh. So to me the comedy was successful. And to those complaining about the comedy , the mix of seriousness and comedy has been pretty consistent with all of the marvel studio movies, they do well in bringing a full spectrum of emotions in their movies.

I watched it with my friends last night, probably will take my wife and kids to see it tonight

yeh fellas the jokes in thor tdw didnt even bother me as much as some of the previous marvel outings, before i saw it i was thinking the comedy would be its downfall but after seeing it as usual i dissagree with half of you

Shield showing up in IM3 is the equivalent of the army showing up to stop a robbery.

When Thor sensed danger shed his robe jumped off the balcony of the palace and grabbed a speeding mjolnir and went flying off to whip ass....I turned to my boyfriend and said "now that's [frick]ing hot"
Enjoyed this waaaaaaaaayyyyyy more than Thor 1.
Hands down CBM of the year 2013. Loki owned and the movie left us salivating over what GOTG is going to bring to the table and omg I cannot wait until the Avengers finally face off with Thanos.

Absolutely loved the movie. I ended up doing Thorsday for the hell of it and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the comedy in the movie, yes there was a good amount but a good majority of it was great, that one scene had me and everyone else laughing for 5 minutes straight.

I think many will love this movie but you'll always get a certain group who will really dislike like it mainly because of the amount of humor.

Until the next time you nee the avengers to assemble and you are shy one key genius, or people get their hands on the intellectual property you know Stark keeps in his house.

As to what makes Thor great its the family drama.

I love how Jane slaps Loki for NYC but couldn't give a damn about the chaos in New Mexico which was more personal.
