Has Everyone Forgotten About Tintin?

Has Everyone Forgotten About Tintin?

Seems like they have.

On December 23, 2011, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn will be released in 3D. It stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Seriks as Captain Haddock, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thompson, and Daniel Crag as Red Rackham. It is directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson. So, why hasn't anyone been talking about this?

With a stellar cast and an amazing crew, you would think that this would be all over the media. Everything to come out about this smells of success: It's directed by Spielberg, it was written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, Peter Jackson is heavily involved in the film (other than just being a producer) and they're so confident that they are planning a sequel to be directed by Jackson and a third movie to be co directed by the two. Everything sounds like win to me.

It seems to me that people have just simply forgotten about it. It didn't show up at Comic Con this year (even though one would think it would) and all we have of it is a set photo and a promo poster. Now, I can't get the actual promo poster, but this is the same thing without the date.

Now, I know that studios like to keep certain projects tight lipped, but there are always insiders trying to get the latest scoop. One (as you may remember) was even sued for releasing info about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Yet, they still are desperate to find information about the slightest thing.

I haven't gotten the chance to read any of the Tintin comics, but I've heard that they're groundbreaking. One critic even compared Raiders of the Lost Ark to them.

So, answer me this: Has everyone forgotten about Tintin, or have they lost interest even before the trailer is released?

Tell me what you think in the comments below. ;)

Animated films, even the mo-cap ones, always seem to have far less leaks.

And even the publicity is tighter... it's usually a fat lot of nothing until 9-6 months from release, when there's a sudden explosion of stills, trailers, featurettes, and screenings.

They're a very different beast from CBMs, that's for sure.

actually tintin is considered one of the most important and influential comics of the 20th century because it documents many important events of the time it was published. it was published throughout the century and it documents things like the world wars and many other important events. in this year's Athens Comic Con there was a documentary shown dedicated to the creator and importance of tintin as a cultural phenomenon.
