If you haven't seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by now, we assume you have no intention of doing so, but on the off chance you simply haven't had a chance to make it to your local multiplex, spoilers follow!
Charlize Theron made her MCU debut as Clea in the mid-credits scene of the Sam Raimi-directed sequel, and the Academy Award-winner also pops up for a cameo in the first episode of The Boys season 3 as similarly-attired Supe, Stormfront (well, she was actually playing herself playing the villain in the show's Justice League parody, Dawn of the Seven).
Showrunner Eric Kripke recently explained that Theron's role in Doctor Strange 2 was news to him when he offered her the Stormfront part, and the actress has now confirmed that producer Seth Rogen first mentioned the idea to her before she landed the role of Clea.
“Seth asked me a while back, and I will lay my body over broken glass for that guy and all of his partners at Point Gray, I absolutely love them, and we look after each other,” Theron said of her Long Shot co-star during an interview with Variety. “I love the show. I think it’s really smart.”
Kevin Feige then called to offer her the Doctor Strange part, and Theron says Marvel Studios execs were fully on board with her shooting her scene as Stormfront... despite the fact that the character is a remorseless Nazi!
“I was very transparent, and they were just like, ‘This is great,'” she recalled. “I mean, [‘The Boys’ is] a satire. I think there’s room for everything, and it doesn’t mean anything other than people are interested in these kind of worlds right now.”
Theron will reprise the role of Clea at some point, but is highly unlikely to return as Stormfront - unless Vought Industries decide to bring her back for Dawn of the Seven 2!
