THE BOYS Concept Art Reveals The Work That Went Into Transforming Jensen Ackles Into Soldier Boy

Some new concept art from The Boys reveals a closer look at the costume actor Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) will wear in the Amazon series, and it's fair to say that this is one badass supersuit...

We recently got our first look at Jensen Ackles suited up as Soldier Boy in The Boys, and a cool new piece of concept art offers a better idea of the work that went into designing this live-action take.

Illustrated by concept artist Greg Hopwood (the costume itself was designed by Laura Jean Shannon), this is a badass piece of artwork that will no doubt help cement the one-time belief that Ackles would have been a perfect fit for the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, the Supernatural alum is getting the opportunity to play an entirely different patriotic superhero, and something tells us Ackles will use this series to put himself on the map in a big way.

A few different characters have held the "Soldier Boy" mantle in The Boys comic book series, so it's unclear how he'll be portrayed in the show. It definitely sounds like Ackles will be playing a key role in season three, though, and his part is expected to be more than just a one-off cameo appearance.

That's definitely a smart move on Amazon's part, and we're hoping this is a character with a future in the series (at the very least, we certainly hope he lasts a little longer than Stormfront...even if she did get what she deserved). There's got to be some serious spinoff potential here too, and seeing Homelander butt heads with The Boys' take on Captain America promises to be an absolute blast.

Reminds me of Patriot in Agent of SHIELD's fourth season, but a more high quality. I dig it.

Season 2 was such a letdown after season 1. The Boys was never gonna get a 1:1 translation to screen, and S1 walked the line perfectly. S2 had none of the chutzpah.

@PapaSpank54 - I definitely enjoyed it. I wagree that season 1 is better but definitely still loved season 2. I am not familiar with the source material so that could be a factor.
