THE BOYS Season 4 Adds Susan Heyward And Valorie Curry; Cameron Crovetti Upped To Series Regular

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has taken to Twitter to announce the first season 4 cast additions, with Orange Is the New Black‘s Susan Heyward and The Following‘s Valorie Curry joining the fray as rookie Supes Sister Sage and Firecracker, respectively.

We don't know very much about these characters, since neither appears in the comic books, but Kripke says these "new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for The Boys. You are going to love them. And by love, I mean be absolutely horrified & a tiny bit nauseous."

We're going to go ahead and assume these guys are like most of the other Supes we encounter in the Prime Video series: awful!

Kripke also revealed that Cameron Crovertti (Ryan) has been upped to series regular, which is hardly surprising after the sinister final shot of season 3.

During a recent interview with Collider, Kripke confirmed that Ryan will be focal point of the fourth season.

"Moving forward, Ryan is a really important part of it. Both Butcher and Homelander have very good reasons to fight over Ryan because the stakes could not be higher. If Ryan goes Homelander's way and then there are two Homelanders in the world, then that's a nightmare for the planet. If Butcher can get Ryan into the light, then that's probably actually the best weapon they have against Homelander. It's always been a show about family, and so much of Season 3 was about fathers, so I think it makes sense that Season 4 is about sons."

Ryan already seems to have chosen "Homelander's way," but that doesn't mean he's beyond saving. Butcher made a major mistake by pushing the easily-influenced youngster away in the false believe that he'd be safer without such a fatalistic father figure in his life, but this completely backfired when Victoria Neuman gave Homelander his son's location.

There's a theory doing the rounds that Ryan may ultimately assume the mantle of the late Black Noir, setting up a significant plot point from the comics (Noir was revealed to be a clone of Homelander). The show is nowhere near as nihilistic as its source material, however, so we think a redemption arc is more likely.

After the pointlessness of Season 3, I’m not sure I care anymore? Solider Boy was a complete waste. A season based on a boy supe being bad or good sounds boring af to me.

@Humperdoo - did we watch the same show? Solider Boy was my favorite part about season 3. His personality and "[frick] YOU" attitude was hilarious and gave me reason to pause and wonder what he could do at any moment, the same way you wonder what Homelander could do moment to moment. I was always worried Soldier Boy would turn on the Boys or get them into a worse mess, and his John Wayne style "racist grandpa" vibe was hilariously played by Jensen. Truly a Captain America worst case scenario much like Homelander is a worst case Superman.

Idk, I know taste and opinions are all subjective and I respect yours, but I enjoyed the hell out of season 3. Was my favorite season so far.

Susan Heyward was also in Powers, good show but nothing special, an animated show would be great, I'm sure the comics are better than the live action tv show

Season finale was disappointing.

The show is starting to overstay its welcome. Butcher would never go after Soldier Boy and ignore Homelander. Soldier Boy was also the best thing about Season 3.

Homelander has become boring, the boys are goodie two shoes and never die when they should have a dozen times by now. Butcher and Soldier Boy were the 2 best characters and one was mishandled and the other put back in a box.

@Typhoon20 - Butcher would never go after Soldier Boy and ignore Homelander.

I found it quite understandable that in that specific instance Butcher chose to prioritize his concern for Ryan's safety over his hatred for Homelander.
