The DCEU is no more, and neither is the Arrowverse, for that matter. Once The Flash ends, we'll say goodbye to The CW's version of the DC Universe that began back in 2012 with Arrow.
Stephen Amell walked away from the role of Oliver Queen following the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, and has talked openly about his disappointment with the way the character's story ended. Now, with James Gunn and Peter Safran plotting out a new DCU as part of DC Studios, could some of those Arrowverse actors get another shot at playing a superhero?
With Aquaman star Jason Momoa reportedly being lined up to swap the King of Atlantis for Lobo, Amell has admitted he would be open to joining the DCU...if he can play Green Arrow again.
"If I'm gonna be a part of the [DC Universe], I'd probably just want to play the Green Arrow in there," the actor says in the video below. "If I had to pick one, I'd pick my own movie, only because there are so many things that selfishly I would like to do with Arrow that we couldn't necessarily do on TV."
"I mean, are they still separate?" Amell continued. "Didn't we have two Flashes in the Arrowverse at one point? So, I don't know. We'll see. Whatever they want."
Gunn has said Green Arrow is one of his favourite comic book characters, so we're sure there are finally big screen plans in place for the Emerald Archer.
Whether those would involve the actor who spent nearly a decade playing him on television seems doubtful, though we wouldn't be against seeing Amell get to play a more comic-accurate version of OIlie. Time will tell, but that DC Studios slate reveal can't get here soon enough.
