Based on a few revealing
set photos and comments from the showrunners, we know that Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) will finally be suiting up as
Mister Terrific in
Arrow's fifth season. Curtis will be joining an all-new Team Arrow to help clean up Star City, and Kellum is excited to finally be donning the iconic T-mask - but don't expect it to happen right away.
"It’s played out very real. He’s not going to put on a suit and all of a sudden be like, 'I’m kicking ass,'" Kellum said in an interview with
CBR News.
"It’s going to be a journey to get that character to that place. That’s one of the things the Green Arrow is facilitating. He definitely puts Curtis through the training process and makes sure he is apt to being out in the field in this dangerous world. You’ll see that progress really pay off when Curtis gets to the point where he’s kicking ass and taking names because of all the hardships and hurdles he has to pass through."
Kellum says the main difference between his character and the rest of Team Arrow not only just his lack of experience on the streets, but his sense of optimism.
"He definitely doesn’t have all the experience of being out on the street. He’s not as jaded. Artemis’ parents were murdered. There’s a lot that goes on to living the life out in the streets. He’s not coming from that place, so he has a little more optimism and faith in people, and is willing to try things that others might be hesitant to. He has a very positive outlook. That’s one of the biggest differences, but the thing that they all have in common is they want to clean up the streets of Star City and aid the Green Arrow in any way they can."
While he may be transitioning into a vigilante, Curtis will still be Team Arrow's resident tech-head, something that will be even more interesting when he finally meets up with
The Flash's Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) in the upcoming crossover this season, which Kellum briefly teased.
"I will say it’s a lot of fun working with Carlos Valdes. We hang out anyway outside of work. Curtis, Felicity and Cisco – as a fan, they all seem familiar and would have a great sensibility, or a great rapport, with each other. That’s something you’ll get to see some glimpses of in this crossover."
