It Sounds Like ARROW Star Stephen Amell's Match At WWE SUMMERSLAM Has Been Scrapped
Despite Stephen Amell denying that it was going to happen, the WWE continued to tease some sort of upcoming confrontation between the Arrow star and WWE Superstar Stardust as rumours swirled about the two coming to blows at SummerSlam in August. So, why has it been scrapped?
We've been keeping you updated about the possibility of Arrow star showing up to wrestle Stardust at this year's WWE SummerSlam for a while now, and while the build up to that match seemed to be ticking along quite nicely, it sounds like the idea has now been scrapped by the company.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer, a bout between the two was being planned, but has now been called off. A reason wasn't given, but you have to imagine that it has something to do with the recent death of Stardust's (a.k.a. Cody Rhodes) father, Dusty Rhodes. However, this isn't the first time that the WWE has contemplated a celebrity guest appearance at SummerSlam and thought better of it. It's been rumoured that they last year discussed having Justin Bieber team-up with John Cena and The Big Show against The Wyatt Family before thinking better of it.
Still, it's a shame that this didn't happen for big WWE fan Amell, especially as it would have no doubt brought a lot of new eyes to Arrow. Stay tuned to CBM as we'll let you know if things change!
