We've known for a while that Poison Ivy would return to Gotham City in season 3 of Batwoman, but this version is quite a bit different to the one in the comic books.
Some time ago, Mary Hamilton-Kane was infected by one of Batman's missing Bat Trophies (most of which have been used to create new versions of classic villains, presumably because Warner Bros. wants to save the real ones for more noteworthy projects than The CW series). Now, she's going to transform into Poison Ivy in the November 24 episode of Batwoman titled "Pick Your Poison."
"Now that she's been infected by Poison Ivy, the selfless and caring Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang) we've come to know and love is taking a backseat to a pernicious and virulent version of herself," reads an official character description. "No longer content with her supporting role on the Bat Team, Poison Ivy Mary uses her newfound powers to stand up, stand out and express her most deeply buried opinions and desires -- regardless of who or what may be in her way."
"But more awaits Mary as her destiny delivers her at the root of her new persona, as she realizes her power bloomed to give life to another... Gotham's long lost and most infamous botanist."
This design is very much in line with the aesthetic of The CWVerse, but might not be what some fans want to see from the iconic villain in live-action. Despite that, we're intrigued to see what actress Nicole Kang does with the rogue, especially as it sounds like this could lead to the real deal's return.
