Ruby Rose left Batwoman after just one season, and when COVID meant a proper farewell for the character couldn't be shot, Kate Kane was "killed" off screen. It didn't take long for it to be revealed that she's actually still alive, of course, though that seemed like a pretty bizarre decision when it's clear Rose has little interest in returning to The CW series.
Everything became clear in Sunday's episode, though, when we learned that Krypton alum Wallis Day will play the new Kate (whose face has been rebuilt after a plane crash).
After fans reached out to Rose on social media, the actress wasted no time in sharing her support for Day.
"I’m sorry I didn’t congratulate @wallisday yesterday," she said in an Instagram Story. "I knew about the casting beforehand and didn’t know when it aired so I forgot to. But I’m stoked for her! I’m seeing all the things I’m tagged in with people sad or wondering how I felt...I feel great, I have nothing but good vibes."
It's been nearly a year since Rose walked away from the role of the Scarlet Knight, and it's interesting that she was given a heads up before the casting was officially announced. When we spoke to the actress earlier this month, she told us that she remains open to returning to the role of Kate Kane in Batwoman...or playing another superhero in the Marvel or DC Universes.
The latter obviously now looks far more likely! Check that interview out below:
