BATWOMAN: The CW Looking To Add Three New Characters To Season 3, Including Renee Montoya

Season 3 of Batwoman is looking to add three major new characters to the series, including Renee Montoya, a love interest for Kate Kane in the comic books who could end up romancing Ryan Wilder instead...

Batwoman's second season wrapped up with Kate Kane leaving Gotham City, making Ryan Wilder the new, permanent Scarlet Knight (however, the biggest surprise for Ryan was learning that her biological mother is still alive). With Poison Ivy likely set to be the big bad of season three, we have intel on a few other characters coming to The CW series.

We start with "Jada Jet," someone The Illuminerdi explains is a Black woman in her late 40s/early 50s. The CEO of Jet Industries, she's described as "an impassioned, industrious, and powerful woman who has worked her way to the top."

Protective of her "reckless and at times menacing" son, Marquis, she had to give up her first child due to circumstances beyond her control. So, yes, it sounds like this could be Ryan's mother, and the fact that the vigilante missed out on a life of wealth by being left in the foster care system should make for compelling viewing.

Marquis is also being cast and is in his early 20s. A "sexy playboy," he had a run-in with one of Batman's foes as a child, and the experience changed him and now means he "[finds] delight in the suffering and terror of others, which can only be kept in check by his mother." Don't be surprised if he ends up taking over the mantle from whoever that villain was he crossed paths with.

The big news, however, is that Batwoman is looking to cast Renee Montoya. The hunt is on for a Latinx or Afro-Latinx actress in her mid-30s, and this version will be in charge of the "freaks division" in the Mayor's office after leaving the GCPD over its treatment of Gotham's poorer citizens. She will be LGBTQ+ here and "is on a personal, and enigmatic, mission to clean up Gotham’s streets the right way by any means necessary."

Could The Question be coming to the series? It sounds like a very real possibility...

Renee was on my wish list for this show since day one, now just cant get excited for it.

Latinx is seriously the dumbest thing I have ever heard, seriously stop trying to change culture, its latino or latina, don't want to say that, then say latin

@dracula - I think people then start to think of classical language. But yeah, I'm getting lost in all these names too.

@bkmeijer - That's all well and good but I tend to respect the wishes of the person and or race on how or what they want to be called or referred to, no matter how crazy or mixed up it might make me.

@Mugens - oh yeah, I try to too. But at times I can't keep up with all the names, so I'm bound to make mistakes

I didn't really like the character in Birds of Prey, so the bar is pretty low for me.

Still hope that the Gotham PD show is gonna interest me though, because between this and Titans the Batman lore explored on tv hasn't all that been interesting.

@bkmeijer - Pretty much can't argue against anything you said here, but I tend to tolerate Batwoman better than most so I hope that this direction actually works out. Only time will tell.

Adding characters won't make the show better, add decent actors, writers and director.

Stop all this woke agenda shit.

@Waddles - Not sure. I really prefer the Vic Savage version of The Question. Not Montoya. But it really looks like Batwoman is going to start pulling out all kinds of classic Batman and DC villains and heroes in an attempt to right this show. We'll see what happens. But I would much prefer to see Vic Savage.

Too bad they already got rid of Kate before bringing Renee. Damn shame.

Am I the only one distracted by how GINORMOUS Renee's boobs are in that thumbnail picture? I mean, it's comics so of COURSE her boobs are gonna be big. Duh. Rare is the comic book woman drawn with normal sized ANYTHING let alone boobs. But in that picture it's literally the first thing I saw. And even though she is crying in the panel, I can't see anything else. Just. Boobs. LOL Anybody know who the artist is?
