DOOM PATROL: Newly Surfaced Audition Tapes For Cyborg Reveal A Rather Mature Tone For The DC Show
Among the list of series planned for the DC Universe streaming service, is a live-action Doom Patrol show, and now some leaked audition tapes for Cyborg provide us with a look at the tone of the series...
While we’ve yet to see any footage from the slate of live-action programs set to air on the new DC Universe streaming service, we already know a Doom Patrol show is in the works as a spinoff of the service’s Titans series.
The Doom Patrol series has already tapped a few people to work behind the camera, including showrunner Greg Berlanti and writer Jeremy Carver, and now the show Is working to round out its cast of characters.
Thankfully, the folks at Omega Underground have discovered some audition tapes for the role of Victor Stone, a.k.a. Cyborg. These audition tapes see the young hero having a serious conversation with his father Silas Stone, and Doom Patrol member Cliff Steele. Also, we get a nice Robotman name drop.
Aside from providing us with a look at out how the series will tackle the character of Vic Stone, they also seemingly reveal that we may see some more mature content in series, as the tapes contain some strong language not typically found in current DC shows, like Arrow and The Flash.
Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find.
Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.
