GOTHAM: Here's How David Mazouz Will Suit Up As The 6'4" Batman In The Series Finale

There have been a lot of questions about how Fox will go about putting 17-year-old David Mazouz in the Batsuit and the show's producer has now revealed the camera trickery which will be used for that...

Gotham premiered back in 2014 and it was said from day one that the show would end with Batman's arrival. The problem is, David Mazouz is still just a 17-year-old kid and not quite how you would expect the Caped Crusader to look ten years into the future.

During a panel for the series at the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday, those in attendance were lucky enough to see the first footage of Batman in the show along with comic book accurate versions of both The Penguin and The Riddler. Executive producer John Stephens, meanwhile, revealed that we will and won't see Mazouz in the Batsuit.

While the young actor's face will be under the cowl and we will indeed hear his voice and "Batman growl," the suit itself is going to be worn by someone else. They will be around 6'4" and built like the Caped Crusader, while Mazouz is 5'8". Camera trickery will then be used to combine the two actors.

While some fans will more than likely find fault with this process, it makes the most sense because it allows us to see a comic accurate Batman in the Gotham finale while also keeping things consistent by having the youngster continue playing Bruce Wayne.

I pictured them putting David in a goofy muscle suit Shazam style but I guess this makes more sense

@Saga - That would have looked horrible, its one thing to put a muscle suit on a guy with muscle, but put it on a slim 18 year old, would probably look really funny

Hey @joshwilding your subtitle 'David 17-year-old David Mazouz' reads like 17-year-old David is his stage name, just FYI :P

That's cool though, will be more of a pay off then just seeing a final shot of the suit from 200 metres away in the final shot. Smallville, I'm looking at you dawg.

Why does everyone want Bruce to be 6'4 - 6'5? Affleck was perfect at 6'2, even Bale a bit shorter than that.

Nightwing1015 - 2/7/2019, 3:09 AM
@Kurne - Affleck was 6'4 in the metal suit IIRC.

Batman from the comics is 6'2

@Kurne - because everything about the character has to be 100% accurate apparently. Any changes and we'll nitpick it to death.

In all seriousness, my pick for batman is and always will be josh brolin, at least for older batman. I dont care if he's short. He's tall enough that i can buy him taking on thugs and he's too awesome of an actor to turn down simply because he doesnt meet an arbitrary height requirement.
Kurne
Kurne - 2/7/2019, 4:05 AM
@Nightwing1015 - Maybe, but probably not. Even then I'm talking about barefoot height. And Affleck was perfect in matching that from his typical listed height in the comics.

blitzburgh - 2/7/2019, 4:11 AM
@Nightwing1015 - see that's what I thought Batman was six-foot-two and Superman was six foot four
emeraldtaurus
emeraldtaurus - 2/7/2019, 5:47 AM
@Kurne - Keaton was 5'9", Kilmer was 6'3", Clooney was 5'11", Bale was 6'0" and Affleck was 6'4"......don't really think it matters when it comes to the actors height. They seem to always find away to make it work.
Kurne
Kurne - 2/7/2019, 5:53 AM
@emeraldtaurus - Affleck was 6'2, not 6'4 like everyone likes to say.

I just think that if he was too big, he'd stand out too much as Bruce.

Philip - 2/7/2019, 6:17 AM
@Kurne - Affleck IS 6’3.5” and was at least 6’4” in the suit.

Snyder wanted a Batman that tall so that he would tower over the 6’1” Henry Cavill. Which he did.
TheLight
TheLight - 2/7/2019, 6:33 AM
@emeraldtaurus - "Kilmer was 6'3""?? Where did you get that, lol? And Affleck is not 6'4". Don't let Google fool you with that.
TheLight
TheLight - 2/7/2019, 6:36 AM
@Philip - Which I always felt as a very stupid reason to want a taller Batman. The whole emphasis of Superman was to have him not only be the name but to also look the name too.
Kurne
Kurne - 2/7/2019, 7:39 AM
@Philip - Affleck's been pictured with and is clearly shorter than the Hemsworth's, only as tall as Jackman and barely taller than Cavill. He's 6'2. Actors lie all the time.
emeraldtaurus
emeraldtaurus - 2/7/2019, 7:46 AM
@Philip - yeah ....I heard that whole "Snyder wanted a Batman that tall so that he would tower over the 6’1” Henry Cavill" BS before ......Snyder got Affleck because Josh Brolin (5'10") turned it down and Affleck was the only actor available (and interested) that fit the bill !
emeraldtaurus
emeraldtaurus - 2/7/2019, 7:47 AM
@TheLight - well Kilmer's at least 6'2" and Afflecks at least 6'3" .......I've seen them in tones of movies ...theyre pretty tall.
Philip
Philip - 2/8/2019, 2:03 AM
@Kurne - they do, but I tend to believe the internet as a whole more than I believe one jackass on it.

He’s clearly taller than Hugh and Henry, and I’ve yet to see a pic that clearly shows he’s shorter than the Hemsworths.

@emeraldtaurus bs or not, Snyder said it. You know it’s possible that Snyder changed what he wanted his Batman to be once Brolin passed?

@hartley07 - It's actually more like 16 to 20 for boys. It depends on the person. It's girls who reach their height at 17 at the latest.

Nightwing1015 - 2/7/2019, 3:07 AM
This is actually really good news. This is exactly what I was hoping they would do. David is a great actor but just doesn't look like Batman yet.
KWilly
KWilly - 2/7/2019, 3:08 AM
This is perfect. You get the keep the actor around to "play" Batman, but you use a bigger dude's body. Best of both worlds. Nice job, Gotham.
dracula
dracula - 2/7/2019, 3:09 AM
Im gonna miss this show so much. so many great moments. and this show focuses more on Bruce, his fundamental beliefs and ideals than probably any batman film. The show is about Gotham as a whole. how it can effect different people, turning some people into monsters, and creating The Batman

dracula - 2/7/2019, 3:15 AM
To bad David wont get to wear the full suit.
Tom Welling wasnt a real superman fan and refused to wear the suit.
David Mazouz is a fan, probably was looking forward to one day wearing, now he cant thanks to Fox cancelling it 2 years early of the producers 7 year plan

The accurate thing would have been to think all this through in the first place, if you are going to introduce Batman then we know Bruce Wayne honed his body so he could be the Batman. Unless they bulk up his day clothes as well then you are going to look at Bruce Wayne, then Batman and say, "It can't be the same person" and detach a little..

Batman does not have a little button that he pushes to change real body shape.

I think it will be slightly confusing but with fans seein an accurate Batman in the end will probably counter that issue.

Mazouz needs to check with a doctor about HGH. Going through life as a 5'8" guy would suck many asses.
