CBS President Weighs In On The Chances Of A Crossover Between SUPERGIRL And THE FLASH

It started off as a rumour, but there's been a lot of talk about a crossover between Supergirl and The Flash recently from both producers and studio presidents.

Everyone from the producers of Supergirl and The Flash to The CW's President has weighed in on a crossover between the two shows this year, and if it doesn't happen at this point, both networks are going to have to deal with a lot of very disappointed DC Comics fans. Talking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour this weekend, CBS President Glenn Geller had this to say about the chances of these two heroes meeting in the foreseeable future: "I have to be really careful what I say here. Watch and wait and see what happens." That kind of tease definitely points to this crossover between Supergirl and The Flash actually happening as it's very much a tease rather than the deliberately vague responses we've had up until this point. The fact that there's no mention of Arrow definitely seems to point to the Scarlet Speedster meeting the Girl of Steel during some sort of interdimensional journey! How would you like to see this possible meeting play out?

Fine with this so long as flash visits supergirl, and not the other way around. Don't waste an episode of flash focusing on supergirl. He can go help her show out but, keep her away from the arrowverse

@NerdMan - "@dev7 the reason that Flash season 1 and Arrow season 1 were the best of their shows...is because of the supporting cast not being present. Thats the fukkkk up that CW producers keep doing...I do not give two shits about having 10 main characters in Arrow or in Flash..what I want are the Flash and Arrow......and them teaming up, not the roadies."

Yeah, it's beyond frustrating the writers inability to handle subplots & character development for the supporting characters. Laurel was an awful character because she had nothing to do and the things they gave her to do was pure shit! No wonder she's such a hated character. Hell, Laurel could've been a great redeeming character story, but they just HAD to "kill" Oliver and rush her storyline. They handled her progression much better than I expected, but now, she's just kind of there. She wasn't even involved in the Flash/Arrow crossover, right??? Just lazy writing.

Their worst offense, we can't figure out how to keep this character involved in the story and we can't come up with good subplots, just have them learn Oliver is Arrow or Barry is Flash, bingo! Now, they're part of the team, NOW they have something to do/offer!! Who cares if more characters know their secret identities than not!!
However, they still fail to find ways to utilize them in the story! Now they're just one more person in Arrow HQ or STAR Labs staring at screens and talking to the heroes!

Hope it happens, it of course opens a lot of doors. One being if they take the Earth 3 route, then Flash will learn about Superman and they could even do a wink that when he returns to our Earth the look at Star Constellations and Krypton is still there, so no need to send a boy out into space.

It also opens the other door that the Movie Universe is just another Earth (Let's say Earth 4 for ease) and despite no crossover happening directly an episode of Flash running like last years season ending episode where we saw the Flash Museum etc, but this time they just show a Clip from Supergirl and BvS. Heck I would have a qucik clip of the JL movie in there just to get the ball rolling on the promotion when it starts up

Supergirl in The Flash series (Part 1 story arc: preferably the last 5mins of the last episode of this season of The Flash)
The Flash in Supergirl series (Part 2 story arc: The Flash makes an appearance on Supergirl's first episode of Season 2)
Supergirl recurring in Legends of Tomorrow

THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE HAPPEN

Do we really want the stench of Supergirl's mediocrity to taint The Flash?

And what's even sadder is that Supergirl is not improving (it's arguably getting worse).

Even IGN gave the latest episode only a 5.2 out of 10!

I like those who say Supergirl needs the Flash to help it. Here are the ratings for each of these series last new show. Gotham 1.6, Aos 1.3, Flash 1.2, Supergirl 1.9.

People here don't know the difference between "Something I don't like" and "Something that is bad".

Like with 'Arrow', for example.

The show has ALWAYS gotten positive reviews (It has a 72 on Metacritic, Daredevil has a 75, for example), but these cry babies keep going on and on about how awful it is.

They're morons.

Each and every single one.

@GarthRanzz

But you're comparing a show in its first season with shows in their second-third seasons.

It's a well-known fact that 95% of television shows have steady rating declines in later seasons. It's also well known that CBS has the highest-rated shows by far of the other big networks (NBC, ABC, FOX).

Supergirl's doing fine, I guess. I'm not sure what CBS was expecting / hoping for.

People here don't know understand how websites like Meteoritic and Daredevil compile TV show reviews. Then again, these sites should make it more clear.

Like with 'Supergirl', for example.

Literally EVERY SINGLE review on Meteoritic is a review for only the first episode. It's not fair to use Metacritic as an indication of quality of the show as a whole. CBM at least seems to think pretty negatively of the show.

They would wig out if they saw how even Supergirl is to Daredevil on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
Erik10101

@GarthRanzz

Metacritic and RottenTomatoes only have reviews of the first episode of Supergirl, so it's not a fair comparison at all.
RocketRed

Right!! But they only use MC and RT when it suits their argument.

Supergirl's doing fine, but it's a female skewing show, so the little nerds hate it.

"Arrow" is doing amazingly, but it deviated from canon, so the little nerds lose their shit.
Darriann
Darriann - 1/12/2016, 4:01 PM
The only thing bad about this is that it would have to be a one time only type deal.Unless they decide to put Supergirl (and Superman) in the same universe,It would be hard to make it believable for them to crossover more than the one time.Is it possible?Yes,but still hard to pull off.
Erik10101
Erik10101 - 1/12/2016, 4:04 PM
@GarthRanzz

Like I said earlier, it's just a fact that it's unfair to use MC and RT here. If you want to compare the first episode of a show to the first episode of another show, go ahead, but don't use those numbers to make any bigger claim.

I'm not saying Superman isn't "doing fine" ratings-wise, but its reception is mixed among the CBM community. It's meaningful that The Flash has an 89% RT audience rating while Supergirl only has 51%.

Actually, that's not true.

Depending on your vehicle, you have access to more episodes.

The reaction to "Supergirl", with a few reviews here and there, has been consistently positive.

Doesn't matter how hard y'all try to spin it.
RocketRed
RocketRed - 1/12/2016, 4:13 PM
It only shows that a LOT of dudes have been hating on "Supergirl" from Day 1, because it's Supergirl has a demographic that skews female.

You go on MC and read the user reviews, it's hilarious. It's a bunch of dudes raging out about feminism.

While the show keeps getting decent reviews.

Is it getting reviews as good as Flash and Arrow, which is most likely the best reviewed CBTV of this season? No.

But it's still finding it's footing. It'll get there.

I've no doubt they planned a crossover from the start. I just hope they set it in the same reality instead of conjuring up another alt Earth.

"Literally EVERY SINGLE review on Meteoritic is a review for only the first episode."

You keep saying "it's a review of the first episode" as if every single one after that was badly reviewed.

When it was not. It wasn't. That's just a fact.

"It's not fair to use Metacritic as an indication of quality of the show as a whole."

Bullshit. It's not fair to use it when it doesn't suit your argument.

"CBM at least seems to think pretty negatively of the show."

CBM also thinks that The Winter Soldier is a better movie than TDK.

So, we shouldn't be using this site as experts opinion on quality.
RocketRed
RocketRed - 1/12/2016, 4:17 PM
@rabid

No way it's set in the same world. Superman exists in "Supergirl".

"Flash" has introduced the concept of the Multiverse. So I'm fairly certain they're going with it.

Ah, but if Supergirl was set slightly in the future, and future seasons of Flash and Arrow visit that future, then it could all jibe.
