SUPERGIRL: Alex Danvers Suits Up In The New Promo For Season 5, Episode 16: "Alex in Wonderland"

It looks like next week's episode will see Alex Danvers get her own Super suit as she gets a rare opportunity to live a day in Supergirl's Kryptonian boots. Meanwhile, Kara gets some bad news.

A few weeks back, Chyler Leigh shared an interesting photo of her, in character as Alex Danvers, wearing her very own Super suit and while she opted not to share any major details then, it looks like next week's promo has confirmed that Alex will indeed be suiting up as National City's new Girl of Steel, albeit with a slight twist.

According to the description, Alex will use the Obsidian lenses to take a day off and visit a virtual rendition of National City, except in this new reality, she's Supergirl instead of Kara. Everything seems to be going well too until the lenses malfunction and trap her inside while also simultaneously warping her personality, which is not good news for anyone.

"Alex in Wonderland" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

ALEX TAKES ON A NEW ROLE - Alex (Chyler Leigh) uses a pair of Obsidian contact lenses to visit a virtual National City where she takes on a whole new persona. Meanwhile, Kelly (Azie Tesfai) helps William (Staz Nair) investigate Lex. Kara (Melissa Benoist) deals with difficult news. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode with story by Rob Wright and teleplay by Jess Kardos & Mariko Tamaki (#516). Original airdate 3/22/2020.

I actually stopped watching since she got pants. I mean it was because the show starting to suck but no more skirt sealed it. 😏

Ehh, I found this to be a somewhat mediocre/alright episode. It was a bit heavy handed at times, and I honestly did not find the Dreamer storyline as strong, let alone as interesting as the other major storyline. Its an important issue, but it felt a bit forced. This show can do a fantastic job addressing a real world issue, i.e. xenophobia with the fantastic Agent Liberty storyline, but it also has a tendency to force storylines. Just my two cents.

The VR obsidian plot was more interesting. I found the safe house to be intriguing, the idea of this VR world/tech being corrupted for the wrong reasons. And at the end, Leviathan storing people affected by the tech, I'm very interested in seeing more of this going forward.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I wonder how intentional it was that they based "Virtual Vegas" in the 1940s and there wasn't a single black person in the scene, which would make it pretty historically accurate.

Next week's episode looks interesting. I thought that it would be this show's version of Iris getting powers (which was not a good episode), but I like that we are continuing the storyline with corrupted VR tech.

So far this week:
1. Supergirl (mediocre/meh)
2. Batwoman (mediocre)

Yeah this episode was a bit heavy handed but I think we should all figure by now that this show isnt very subtle when it comes to the message they try to get across. Plus I'm honestly surprised it took THIS long for them to focus on the subject matter. I'm sure we all knew it was coming eventually.
