While she's had a significant presence in recent episodes of Supergirl, Nicole Maines' Nia Nal has yet to don the moniker of Dreamer, but viewers should get ready to learn more about Nia, as the CW has cast two new character with big ties to the soon-to-be hero.
The first is Hannah James (Mercy Street), who is set to have a recurring role as Nia Nal’s older sister Maeve. James' character is said to be "driven and focused on maintaining the Nal family’s rich legacy," and while she and Nia maintain strong sisterly bond, "Maeve has always had to work harder to achieve what comes naturally to Nia."
Finally, we know Nia's mother, Isabel, has been cast and will be portrayed by Scandal alum Kate Burton. Though she may not be a superhero like her daughter, "the warm and nurturing mother of Nia Nal, is a local hero in her own right."
It's currently unclear which episodes these two will appear in, but their casting suggests Supergirl will soon be putting more focus on Nia Nal, a.k.a. Dreamer, a character who has already sparked a lot of interest as the first transgender superhero on TV.
