SUPERGIRL Casts UNDERWORLD 3 Star Rhona Mitra As Mercy Graves & THE ORIGINALS' Robert Baker As Her Brother

Deadline is reporting that Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) and Robert Baker (The Originals) have both joined the cast of Supergirl season four in villainous recurring roles that have some serious ties to the Superman mythology.

Mitra will play Mercy Graves, the longtime bodyguard of Lex Luthor, while Baker will play her brother and de facto right-hand man, Otis Graves.

The CW's Mercy Graves is described as an ex-CADMUS agent that has always believed in human exceptionalism, however, with both Lex and Lillian locked up, she'll be carrying out her own agenda and will become a key figure in National City's growing human-first movement. Otis Graves, on the other hand, is described as a lethal assassin that namely targets aliens of all shapes and sizes.

The pair are the latest new faces to join the season four cast, following Sam Witwer (Agent Liberty), Nicole Maines (Dreamer), April Parker Jones (Colonel Haley), and David Ajala (Manchester Black). Additionally, Jesse Rath (Brainiac-5) was promoted to a series regular while Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott) stepped down to recurring status.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5
Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty
Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer
April Parker Jones as Colonel Haley
David Ajala as Manchester Black
Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves
Robert Baker as Otis Graves
Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El

Supergirl returns with a brand new episode on October 14

Wonder if we will ever see Lex.
Also wonder if we will ever see Maxwell Lord again, we lost a few characters because of the move to CW, but he is the only one who needs to return to wrap up a few plot points

@dracula - we lost cat grant and Maxwell Lord imo the two best characters on the show

@BoyWonder - Cat is great, but its not like she is 100% needed for the plot, although it was nice to see her in season 2, and wish we had gotten more than a cameo on a tv screen in season 3, but at least season 2 gave her a good send off. Max could have done a lot more, like for one thing, he could have been apart of CADMUS, plus last time we saw him he had the omegahedron

@Pathogen - Pretty sure that’s from the Ali-G movie.

Also look for a gif of her from Hollow Man (Kevin Bacon film). A bit inappropriate to link😉

Wait--when did Otis become the brother of Mercy Graves? Something they invented for the show?

@FlixMentallo21 - It looks like the "writing staff" had no point of thought on this. Pity.

@2013venjix - Well Otis is a character from the Superman movie. So they just made a simple relationship.

Mercy Graves comes from the animated show. These two characters barely exist in the comics. It's not a big deal that the show makes them related.

It's as bad as people thinking the symbiote made Spider-man bad in the comics and that Mr Freeze was this uber great character before BTAS.

Yes I’m trolling. I’ll own it. But can this terrible show end already? It’s truly awful. I tried and tried to like it but it’s f*cking embarrassing! Go ahead and attack me! I’m a Marvel troll (P.S. I prepaid for the DC Universe already so I’m not a Marvel apologist! I just hate the CW shows. They’re intellectually embarrassing!

It's unclear whether or not the plan is for Lena to eventually go full-on villain. There was already tension between Lena and Supergirl. It's hard not to imagine Mercy feeling a little redundant to Lena. Or there being a good reason why she wouldn't just stay in Metropolis. But I'll allow it.

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - first off great name bro! Second I think that is the plan, she even tells Kara in Last season’s finale that she can never trust Supergirl again. And now having mercy come in, she might not get along with Alayna at first but I think eventually she’s going to become her bodyguard just like she is to lex in the animated show and in the comics. I’ve been calling Lena Goin full villainsince the start.

God I love Katie McGrath so freaking hot and super talented.

Is it possible to be any more sexy than this woman?

Yep I heard about this earlier, hoping they depict them as equals in their own evil doers-ing activities that suits them best. TBH these two along with Agent Libery are making the Season feel "grounded" as they said, at least until they start with "Red Daughter Kara".

I also think Mercy being here could be the slow beginning to Lex. If WB of course are not selfish of course.
