Like Arrow and The Flash, it appears as if Supergirl will also feature some flashbacks as a young actress has now been cast in the CBS series which stars Glee star Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel.

The actress who played a younger version of April O'Neil (Megan Fox) in last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has now joined the cast of Supergirl as Kara Zor-El. Melissa Benoist is obviously playing the current day take on the character in the TV show, so this means we will likely revisit Kara's early days when she arrived on Earth and started to discover her powers. Supergirl focuses on Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. After arriving on Earth, Kara was taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers. She joins Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Chyler Leigh (Alexandra “Alex” Danvers), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Faran Tahir (The Commander), Dean Cain and Helen Slater (both in unspecified roles). What do you think?
