UPDATE: Daniel DiMaggio Will Play A Young 'Superman' On SUPERGIRL

Well, young Kal-El is more accurate, as this lad is many, many years away from caping up as the Man of Steel. We've known for a while that a younger version of Supes was going to be introduced on Supergirl

The February 8 episode of the CBS Supergirl TV series is titled “For The Girl Who Has Everything”, and Kryptonsite has confirmed that this is when we'll first meet the adolescent Kal-El, who will of course one day become Superman.

He'll be played by Daniel DiMaggio, who has previously appeared in Tales of Halloween (2015), A Tiger's Tail (2014) and Divide & Conquer (2014). Unfortunately there aren't many pictures of the youngster online, but that's him on the left of the pic above.

We still don't know exactly how this take on the iconic character will debut on Supergirl, but some more details should be available over the next couple of weeks. All we have to go on for now is that Lil’ Supes will be introduced via a string of flashbacks that will "establish the cherished bond between him and Kara".

UPDATE: The official synopsis for the ep gives us a lot more to go on.

For The Girl Who Has Everything” – Kara’s friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home planet was never destroyed. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Feb. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

From the title I'm guessing it's a dream sequence just like the comic.

Guessing this is Kal-El as he might have grown up on Krypton rather than young Clark Kent.

Oh, so basically Kara is going to dream that Krypton was never destroyed, and it will be a dream Clark who grew up on Krypton.

Ok how about this. It's not a dream, just flashbacks of Kal living on Earth as a kid. Kara won't be there, but maybe she'll be able to see them somehow (her mom, kryptonian tech) and that's where the bond comes from? Seeing that she grew up in a similar way?

Ok guys, I have to say it. I really don't like different universes with the same characters in TV and Movies.

Especially right now, when we're only hours away from another look at that glorious, yet twisted DCEU. Sorry, Daniel Dimaggio, but it's nap time for you kid.

What is there not to get? What makes you confused aboot this? Obviously from the "Title", they are basing the episode from the comic book version of a Superman comic...

If you read the comic, the Black Mercy shows Superman a version of his life if Krypton didn't explode. What it would have been like if he lived his life on the planet Krypton instead of Earth.

This time it will be Kara that will experience this...If she grows up on Krypton, so will her cousin....I'm sure people will still be confused, but whatever...

@NiklanderReborn

It is all good.......all it means is they are going to watch! Yup......they are going to watch....because they are scared.......scared that Marvel may have to share crown.

Instead of embracing this and seeing how this will push Marvel to do better......just DC finally realized they had to do better.

Oh alright. When I first head they were casting a teenaged Superman I thought it was a stupid idea and that they were going to screw up their own continuity, but basing it on For The Man Who Has Everything not only makes a hell of a lot of sense, but actually makes me thing this could be a really great episode. Having read that comic, while I thought it was very well written (Alan Moore if I'm not mistaken which I probably am), it never rang true for me that Superman's deepest desire would play out like that - I've never gotten the feeling that Superman missed Krypton that much and would prefer to be there than Earth, given the fact he was too young to remember any of it and had a pretty great life on Earth with so many friends and loved ones here (his parents, Lois, etc.)

I could have accepted it a lot more if the illusions worked differently (like the alien - or some other villain like Brainiac - knew Superman was from Krypton and was actively showing him a better version of his life on that planet as a way of messing with his head) but as it was written, those aliens showed the victim their deepest desire, and it just didn't seem right for that character. Transplanting that narrative to Supergirl, however, makes so much more sense seeing as she does remember her life on Krypton and all her loved ones that she lost, and the fact that she does, to some extent, actively miss that life and prefer it to her current one on Earth. I'm sure that, given the choice of living on a restored Krypton with her resurrected family or remaining on Earth knowing they were all gone, Supergirl would be far more likely to choose Krypton than Superman would be.
