Will SUPERGIRL's Martian Manhunter Enter Into A Romantic Relationship With Miss Martian?

Supergirl showrunner Andrew Kreisberg has implied that David Harewood J'onn J'onnz will be romantically paired with Sharon Leal's M'gann M'orzz, a slight departure from their usual uncle/niece connection.

Though typically depicted as uncle and niece in the comics, it seems The CW's Supergirl will take the Martian Manhutner and Miss Martian relationship down a less familial path.  According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, you'll soon be able to add J'onn J'onnz and M'gann M'orzz to the shows ever increasing number of romantic pairings.

"His relationship with M’gann is an important one over this next batch of episode.  There is some really great stuff for David [Harewood] and Sharon [Leal] that we are really excited about. We love Sharon’s performance and we love seeing David and Sharon together, it’s some of our favorite stuff this season. We’ve been really lucky with our romantic pairings this season and we really think that J’onn and M’gann have a great storyline coming up.”

Since Miss Martian and J'onn aren't actually family, and the niece/uncle relationship has always been a cover story to hide M'gann's White Martian background, technically, this isn't THAT huge of a leap from comic book lore.  This new dynamic should also give the criminally underused David Harewood more screen time.

I'm not a fan of them going in this direction, but hopefully they can find a way to make it work. I do hope Ma'alefa'ak will make an appearance on the show, because having his brother appear will really change things up.

@InfinitePunches - I think this is fine since the characters are fundamentally different here. I'm more put off from Barry and Iris.

I never read the Young Justice comics based on the show, but was it ever explained how Megan was related to J'onn. He didn't know about her until she showed up. How does a white Martian become the niece of a green Martian?

@Battabing - They were never related. Her being his niece was just a cover story to hide her White Martian heritage.

I am still thoroughly disappointed that they used m'gann as a potential love interest for martian manhunter instead of adapting a young justice live action series where she actually fights crime and has her own pet jetplane -thats right, a LIVING PET JETPLANE- and eventually gets involved with superboy, artemis is the child of taskmaster and huntress and has a sister who is a legit ninja, nightwing is actually a thing (they adapted artemis and wild dog before nightwing? WTF?!) and wally west is a goofy redhead. Kinda feels like they got into DC characters for their creativity and imagination, but that creativity/imagination got lost in translation. Too much to ask for some real outside the box plot twists? And not just a drawn out adaptation of Superman's "For The Man Who Has Everything"and poorly interpreted aliens based on the invasion storyline. Looking at you, crossover episodes.

TL;DR green martian x white martian = boring
