News broke yesterday that Stephen Amell will return as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in the upcoming ninth and final season of The Flash. The actor, who bid farewell to the Emerald Archer in 2020, immediately took to social media to comment on his Arrowverse comeback with a GIF and the statement, "Of course I’m coming back."

Now, Amell has followed that up with a photo from the Vancouver set of The CW series, teasing his character's reunion with Barry Allen.

Neither of them is decked out in their respective superhero costumes here, though we can't believe The Flash and Green Arrow won't be heading into battle again together one final time. As for how Ollie returns, we're assuming this will be a flashback to a previously unseen adventure considering the fact the hero died during Crisis on Infinite Earths

Then again, it's always possible this Green Arrow hails from another reality! The Flash started delving into the DC Multiverse long before the upcoming movie, and even beat the MCU to it.

With the Arrowverse winding down, The CW looks set to embark on a new approach to the content it offers. That may or may not include Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights, but The Flash's conclusion definitively ends the Arrowverse following last year's cancellation of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow

"As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen," The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace said yesterday. He'd add that fans can expect, "an epic-yet-emotional episode we hope Arrowverse fans will enjoy."

Season 9 of The Flash will premiere on February 8, running (no pun intended) for a total of 13 episodes.
