Rick Cosnett Confirms Return To THE FLASH Season 3 As Eddie Thawne

Eddie Thawne made a brief return during season two of The Flash when Barry Allen travelled back in time, but now Rick Cosnett has taken to social media to confirm that the detective is coming back...

Well, this is unexpected! As you can see below, Rick Cosnett has confirmed that he's coming back to The Flash, but who will he be playing? In most shows, it would be logical to assume that he'll just reprise the role of Eddie Thawne in a flashback, but in this series, there are a number of possibilities.

It could be that we're going to meet an alternate Earth version of Eddie or that some sort of time travel shenanigans will be involved, but it's hard to tell from this Tweet whether it's a one-off appearance or something more permanent. For some
time, though, fans have wanted to see Eddie back in The Flash.

Could it be that Eddie is actually Savitar? His body was pulled into that portal in the season one finale...

Why don't they ever have a villain who isn't a character we met already? These twists where someone who seemed like a friend or mentor is actually evil has gotten old.

I see the universe will be back to trying to cockblock Barry again.

I get that they didn't want to show him shooting himself in the head, but awkwardly shooting himself close to but not in his heart was awkward to watch. Made him look incredibly dumb.

@Boyle360 - Should have got the real suicide squad to help him out!

I hope he comes back as a villain. It would be great to find out because of Flashpoint he never killed himself.

If he'd become Cobalt Blue I'd have no problem with that.

wow if we are right and Tommy Merlyn is Prometheus and Eddie is Savitar then both arrow and flash will be doing the exact same twist this season. A friend who died during the first season who was related to that big bad, coming back as a villain

They really need to get this show back on track. I don't like the new Wells or Cisco. And the time traveling thing really screws it up. They have to write in if he time travels he uses up all the speed force and can't run for a few weeks or something.
