The CW has released a new trailer for the upcoming ninth and final season of The Flash. Surprisingly, this comes our way from CW18 Milwaukee, and we're guessing they pulled the trigger on releasing this sooner than they were supposed to!

Regardless, it offers our best look yet at what's to come for the Scarlet Speedster for his final run on the network, dropping some big hints about what the future holds in store for Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. The most noteworthy reveal, however, may be the fact that The Flash's new big bad is going to be a speedster who wants to build a time machine!

Elsewhere in the trailer, Hartley Rathaway/Pied Piper (Andy Mientus) returns and we get a first look at Owen Mercer/Captain Boomerang (Richard Harmon).

After defeating the Reverse Flash once and for all, the ninth season of The Flash picks up one week later following their epic battle, and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) are reconnecting and growing closer than ever before.

But when a deadly group of Rogues descend on Central City led by a powerful new threat, The Flash and his team - Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Meta-Empath Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), the light-powered meta Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton), brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight) and reformed cryogenics thief Mark Blaine (Jon Cor) - must once again defy impossible odds to save the day.

But as The Rogues are defeated, a deadly new adversary rises to challenge Barry Allen's heroic legacy And in their greatest battle yet, Barry and Team Flash will be pushed to their limits in order to save Central City one last time.

A new poster for The Flash has also been released, showing the Fastest Man Alive...whizzing past posters for previous seasons. It's an odd concept, but one that works surprisingly well. The Arrowverse will end when this show does, so many fans are understandably excited to tune in and see how this story ends.

@bobevanz - He was able to outrun it for 9 seasons... Thats better than 95% of comic book tv shows.

@bobevanz - A show getting to run for 9 seasons and end on its on terms is not a failure in the slightest lol

I'll prob check out the finale and watch the "previously on.." clip.

Would also be a wasted opportunity to not crossover with DCU Flash again especially as the finale and movie come out around the same time.

Would be better if Grant shows up in the movie though. I think he's been the best casting after Tyler's Superman in the whole CWverse.

@UniqNo - You really think they’d want Ezra anywhere near this show right now?
