TITANS Showrunner Addresses The Season Finale And That Mind-Blowing After-Credits Scene - SPOILERS

The Titans finale landed on DC Universe earlier today and now showrunner Greg Walker has addressed the events of that episode and the after-credits scene which will change season two in a massive way...

The Titans finale ended on a huge cliffhanger as we learned that, yes, Batman losing the plot really was all just a dream. With Dick Grayson seemingly under the control of Trigon, we're left with a lot of questions and there was no sign of Nightwing or the team coming together to kick some ass.

On the plus side, we did get an after-credits scene featuring the live-action debut of Connor Kent. Emerging from a lab and surrounded by dead scientists, the young hero is branded with Superman's logo (on his arm) and is looking for something. That something turns out to be his dog Krypto. Needless to say, fans are going to be very happy about this.

What they may not be pleased about is the team not assembling properly during season one, something showrunner Greg Walker explains by saying it's "more interesting watching them trying to form a team and being pulled apart than watching them actually be a team and fight together." Wait, what? That sounds like a pretty clueless statement.

Regardless, asked about plans for Connor, Walker had this to say about what comes next.

"It’s still brewing. What I can say is that we still want to take the same dimensionalized and psychologically grounded approach that we do with the other characters and apply that same pressure to Conner Kent and see what shakes out when you put a character like that through that test. You know, questions of identity, questions of powers, questions of your place in the universe. These are all questions that are interesting for any kind of Superman character, and are really interesting for Conner."

As for whether or not we'll get to see Trigon's true form, it doesn't sound like he'll be anything more than human. "I always thought it was more interesting to kind of play the human seductive side of evil that preys on your weaknesses rather than just preying on your fear." Have you lost faith in Titans or was that action-packed finale enough to get you to stick around?

This show has been an incredible disappointment.

- Really bad acting from two of the show’s main characters (notably Raven/Rachel).

- A terrible characterization of Dick Grayson.

- Forced and awkward “edginess” and super unrealistic hyper-violence (those blood spatters are terribly over the top).

- Some cheap production design and terrible lighting to hide it.

- An unfocused narrative that never resolves itself or moves any of its characters forward.

And how was this end credits scene mind blowing? It had nothing to do with the story being told throughout the season, it wasn’t built up to or set up in any way throughout the season. It just ... exists. Pure fan service. And the VFX on Krypto were cheesy and laughable.

Bright spots for the show have been Starfire, Hawk and Dove. But it’s simply not enough.

I’m likely dropping this, like I have the CW’s offerings. This is the same as those but with swearing and blood. It’s the same level of quality when it comes to acting, production design and writing and that’s not a good thing. Very disappointed to see my favorite comic book character done like this.

That trigon comment to me sounds more like we don’t have the budget to do it so we’re gonna keep him human. I haven’t seen the show so idk

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Probably true, but then, why would he walk around in his demon form when it seems he's all about blending in? Frankly, he's probably really in his demon form, but we just don't have the eyes to see it.
