Chris Hemsworth Wants A GAME OF THRONES Inspired Asgard In THOR 2

Chris Hemsworth once again shares his thoughts on the direction of Thor 2, revealing that he's hoping director Alan Taylor will bring some of the grittiness associated with Game of Thrones to the sequel. Tom Hiddleston also comments on Loki's role in the follow up.

Talking to MTV Splash Page, Chris Hemsworth had this to say about the direction he's hoping Alan Taylor will take the sequel. "['Game of Thrones'] had a real mythical element to it, but it was rooted in such an organic and tangible world. I think Asgard could really benefit from that sort of a grittier, aged feel to it and not so ethereal."

As for where the sequel will take Thor, Hemsworth is hoping to take the God of Thunder even further afield that Asgard and Earth. "The big thing about the comics for me was the origin story. Thor was interesting, but what I found more fascinating was the other worlds and realms that you can be taken off into." When asked about whether we'll see even more otherworldly locations, he added, "I think so. I haven't seen the script yet, but hopefully. There are so many other universes out there and realms in the comics that they explored. I think definitely we'll venture into them."

"I'd like to take him to his absolute rock bottom," adds Tom Hiddleston on Loki's role in the sequel. "I'd like to see him yield essentially to his darkest instincts an then having hit rock bottom, maybe come back up. The fascination for me about playing Loki is that in the history of the mythology in the comic books and Scandinavian myths, he's contantl dancing on this fault line of the dark side and redemption. I don't know when, byut it would be fun to see him see the light again and be recruited to the good side."

RELEASE DATE: November 15th, 2013.

Make it so! Game of Thrones is without a doubt the best show on television. I want Thor 2 to have that sort of realistic feel with amazing scenery.

I think that a more medieval Asgard is possible considering the fact that the Bifrost's destruction may be used as a plot device to cut them off from other worlds and thus perhaps affecting their planet and their resources....it's sounds like a long shot i know but i'm sure it could be used in a convincing way instead of just changing the look without explaining why and how.

I've never seen GOT but i have heard only good things about it. I thing the more fantasy look to Asgard should stay but maybe travel to the other realms and have them be a grittier more more medieval looks like Alfiem or Nidavellir.

I really hope THOR 2 exceeds the first one.

I liked THOR, but it was a tadbit underwhelming and wasn't as EPIC as I thought it was gonna be. I hope they up the ante on this one.

Avalance, there are some films that are better left seen in theatres..... Having seen The Avengers four times in the cinema already, i have to say that it is indeed one of them. So have some respect and go see it the way it was supposed to be seen

That's entirely up to the vision the director has for the film.

If he/she can push the PG-13 limits, it can be done!

George Martin and the writers are the ones who make GOT gritty and "degenerate". The director has nothing to do with it... And Marvel won't allow any kind of debauchery here.

I really love the Asgard fron Thor. Asgard is not a vinking "degenerate" place. The Asgardian is more like gods.. Asgard is the realm eternal... not the realm degenerate like in of the Game of Thrones.. We don´t have to be realistic all the time.. We can explore a more magical, o Jack Kiby´s visual as seen in Thor. I think that´s not the case o Thor to show a more realistic and "degenerate" Asgard. I´ll hate to see that.

I like Asgard as a beautiful, majestic, Norseman's paradise. Personally, I would rather they shape other worlds in their images instead of changing the parts of Asgard already shown.

I really felt that Asgard was a complete waste in Thor, they show a glimpse of this awesome city of gods and then they spent the rest on the movie in a trailer in the desert. I wasn't a big fan of Thor for many reasons but the most glaring was probably the mundane setting. I really hope they establish Asgard in Thor 2 as a working society with characters who actually do things. Setting up a bit of a political system ala Game of Thrones would be cool but the complex workings of Westeros wouldn't go over so well in a movie that is also geared towards kids. Making the world gritty and real could work to an extent, but the shine and polish is part of what makes Asgard Asgard. Here's hoping for a much improved Thor 2.
