GAME OF THRONES Star Kit Harrington Needs To Text Liam Cunningham Back About The Jon Snow Spin-Off

If there's no room for Ser Davos Seaworth in the Jon Snow Game of Thrones sequel series from HBO, there are plenty of other spin-offs where Liam Cunningham's pirate smuggler could appear!

In June 2022, HBO started early development on a Jon Snow, Game of Thrones spin-off series which is thought to pick up where the series finale ended. In the final episode of the HBO fantasy series, Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, rejected the Iron Throne and was banished to dwell with The Wildlings on the other side of the Wall.

It will be interesting to see what HBO comes up with as the main antagonist for Jon Snow in the spin-off now that the threat posed by the White Walkers has been eliminated.

While promoting his new Dracula film, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, actor Liam Cunningham revealed to Den of Geek that he contacted Harrington to get some insider information about the show, and that if the price is right, he's not opposed to Sir Davos having a role.

I did send [Kit] a text saying, ‘Better Call Davos,'” Cunningham stated. “I haven’t heard anything back. You probably know more than I do. I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!

According to George R.R. Martin, it was Harrington who pitched the idea to HBO, though Martin indicated that he'll have some involvement with the show.

In addition to the Jon Snow spin-off, there are several other Game of Thrones sequels and prequels in development, including:

  • 10,000 Ships- based on the warrior Princess Nymeria, who founded Dorne
  • 9 Voyages aka Sea Snake - a House of the Dragon spinoff focusing on the voyages of Corlys Velaryon
  • Dunk & Egg aka The Hedge Knight  - a prequel series following a young hedge knight and a boy who is secretly a  Targaryen prince
  • The Golden Empire - an adult animated series set in Yi Ti, a land loosely based on Imperial China

Ser Davos, one of the few survivors of the Game of Thrones season 8, was promoted to Master of Ships in the series finale and tasked with rebuilding the Royal Fleet, so the former pirate smuggler turned royal is nicely positioned to appear in any number of spin-offs if Harrington never texts back!

Recently been watching through the series again. On season 5 now. Davos was definitely a standout character. Rewatching knowing John's arc, I notice so much more about him as a character than the first time I saw the shows. He is a great character. BTW, season 5 is the weakest season up to that point. Then, of course the last season things unravel a bit again. Looking forward to this John Snow spinoff. I would like to see where his story goes from here.

Saw The Last Voyage of the Demeter Thursday and it was really good! He was great as the ship’s captain

@narrow290 - I heard from a friend that it is another case of "the critics are full of shit." I definitely want to check it out soon.

The risk of this Jon Snow show being terrible or forgettable is worth the risk of somehow fixing the Game of Thrones finale.

I hope they lean back in on the White walkers and bring back the Long Night or at least have that battle beyond the wall.

This smells of TWD, and the never ending spin offs and cash grabs which took what started as a great show and drove it straight into the ground.

House of the Dragon has been an ok follow up to GoT, but if they decide to drag it out too long and then bombard us with numerous other interconnected spin offs, it’s be more of a turn off than something to get excited for.

Plus HBO used to be known for quality, now after the Discovery merger, they mostly pump out Netflix quality trash. Shame.

Here’s hoping that any Snow spinoff finds a way to include the other remaining Starks. Aria, in particular became a potentially interesting character based on her training and new set of skills.

Not holding my breath. We’ll see

Trust me, as long as people want to see incest dragon riding pale people flying around, HBO will milk the Targaryen line for as long as they can.

Still waiting for "proof" on this spinoff to actually happen.

And No, Kit and GRRM are not enough.

On the matters of The Last Voyage of the Demeter, it was pretty decent. It kept in spirit of the book's chapter page about Dracula despite the ending. And it felt good to finally have a truly monsterous Dracula, honoring the Bram Stoker novel, instead of the tired trope of him being this charismatically tragic fang banging machine.
