AGATHA: New Character Details Reveal Possible Spoilers And Plans For Returning Ralph Bohner

Some intriguing new character details for Marvel Studios and Disney+'s Agatha have been revealed, including what we can expect from Evan Peters' return as Ralph Bohner (and not Quicksilver). Check it out!

Agatha remains one of Marvel Studios' most intriguing upcoming projects, particularly with it serving as a follow-up to 2021's critically acclaimed WandaVision (and, to a lesser extent, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).

Nexus Point News has today shared new intel on the show's characters, starting with Joe Locke's Billy. They believe the plan is to reveal his true identity as the teenage son of Wanda Maximoff later in the series, making it a huge moment for non-comic book readers.

Aubrey Plaza is Rio Vidal, one of Agatha's antagonists, while Patti LuPone is Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata is Jennifer Kale, and Ali Ahn is Alice Wu.

Miles Guiterrez-Riley, meanwhile, is said to be playing Eddie, Billy's boyfriend. Likely to disappoint fans is the fact it doesn't sound like he has any connection to Teddy Altman, a.k.a. Hulking. Perhaps we'll meet him down the line; then again, it could be that Bruce Banner's son first introduced in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is an amalgam of Teddy and Skaar.

We'll see, but Paul Adelstein and Maria Dizzia have reportedly been tapped to play Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan, Billy's "parents."

As for The Salem Saven, they're "the daughters of the witches Agatha killed in WandaVision" and can supposedly turn into animals. According to the site, the actors and animals in question are Okwui Okpokwasili/Cicada, Bethany Curry/Crow, Athena Perample/Fox, Marina Mazepa/ Snake, Britta Grant/Rat, Chau Naumova/Coyote, and Alicia Vela-Bailey/Owl.

More minor character details can be found at the site, but of particular interest is their update on Evan Peters' Ralph Bohner.

"Yes, Evan Peters is returning as Ralph Bohner. No, they are not retconning anything about his character in Agatha," the site claims. "I know many people were disappointed with the reveal of Peters as Ralph Bohner and they wanted him to be Quicksilver desperately, however it seems like Marvel is sticking to their plan to keep him as Ralph. His appearance is also very short."

That might go down as one of the biggest wasted opportunities in MCU history.

"I wish I could tell you anything. I can tell you that it's pretty fan- fabulous, I'm going to say that," Kathryn Hahn recently said of her MCU return. "I was going to say fantastic, but then I decided to go with fabulous."

"It's an amazing cast. I’m in awe of everyone’s work in this show and I think people are going to be surprised," she continued. "I don't - I think they're gonna think it's one way and, of course, it's gonna go a million different avenues kinda like WandaVision."

Agatha is rumoured to premiere on Disney+ this September.

There's another MCU thing I'm 99% gonna give a pass. Word of mouth must be rock solid for me to change my mind, honestly.

@Fogs - Just curious what was the 1st MCU thing you passed on before this?

@Reginator - I won't say 100% cause in all honesty Loki seemed to be a very bad idea for a series and ended up being my favorite. But yeah, this won't be a Loki.

@mastakilla39 - you mean, ever?

Hmm gotta be Eternals. Tried watching it on Steraming and fell asleep for a good part of it. Never cared enough to try again.

Never finished What If S1 or Secret Invasion, passed on The Marvels and What If S2 entirely.

@Fogs - Thanks for the answer, was just curious as it seems like a lot of users on this website has been skipping a lot of recent MCU projects. I'm still watching all of them just as a die-hard including What If, but I understand the disappointment.

@mastakilla39 - to me the problem really is in some stuff I did watch like L&T, Black Widow, Quantumania, Hawkeye... Hehehe

Oh, and Echo... Didn't watch that one too. Forgot it existed, lol.

As much as I loved WandaVision, there are two things in the finnale that soured me on it:

1.:

Fox actor, comic suit, and for what-- for this?!

Desperate last minute attempt to empathize Wanda that ended up backfiring, not only for this show but for her future appearance in DSitMoM.

No disrespect to Kathryn Hahn, she was a big part of what worked in that show, but this solo project of hers is easily one of my least anticipated for the general franchise.

@DrReedRichards - Both terrible moments, but trying to make Wanda empathetic really hurt a character that had one of the best character arcs in the MCU to that point.

They hypothetically could still fix it if she realizes what she did was wrong.

But it just didn’t make sense for Monica, who was somewhat of the audience perspective character to say that. Maybe if it had been a “you’ve suffered a lot of loss and must be going through a lot, but making these innocent people suffer like this was wrong” would have been a much better approach.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 5/13/2024, 10:30 AM
@DrReedRichards - I will say

I can understand people having issue with Monica saying that but given that she still hadn’t processed her own grief with her mom’s death , I get her empathizing with Wanda but I like Wanda being like basically “it doesn’t matter” if I remember correctly so she shuts that down.

@DrReedRichards - the whole thing was kind of wild. If they wanted the audience to empathise with Wanda, would would they not write her that way? Instead they ended a show expecting the audience to side with someone who, arguably, was the villain of the whole thing
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 5/13/2024, 12:33 PM
@Twenty23Three - TBF there was a lot of last minute rewriting of the final episode and a lot of complications filming it due to COVID so...

...yeh, it didn't realy work but with cast unavailable and having to minimise how many on set at the same time and all that meaning everything would take longer to film thus likely less testing and reshoots to get it out faster with all the protocols and lockdowns are all factors.

I wonder how much of the typical audience for “witch shows” are going to check this out. I just don’t think that a lot of non-MCU fans care to tune in for niche content that is in this shared universe.

I do know that there is a portion of the MCU fan base that has zero interest in this. Likely it’ll be another low viewership show that doesn’t help the overall brand.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 5/13/2024, 10:28 AM
Unlike some , I thought having Evan Peters as this fake Quicksilver was actually a cool red herring for the story…

If you couldn’t get ATJ back at the time then casting someone the audience could immediately recognize as a Pietro while still thinking that something was off was smart I think.

Granted , ultimately the payoff was just a low brow joke so I can understand the dissapointment but as it unfolded , I thought it was a cool meta-reference & misdirection.

However as well as Peter’s did in the role , I don’t need to see him again especially not in an Agatha series (him being an actor makes his appearance in Wonder Man make more sense).

I am intrigued if they still keep him as Jimmy’s lost witness and why he was placed in witness protection then?.

@TheVisionary25 - The mistake was the joke, one most wouldn't get as a reference to one of the sitcoms they based his intro episode on.

Having the fake out I was fine with (and seemed obvious from the get go) but for me he should have been Agatha's cat transformed into a human and/or the characters son. That or his real name or stage name being Simon Williams, even if not opting to use him for/as Wonder Man they can do the opposing for that and a reference line to why one of them couldn't use their real name for their equity card.

If going for random WV resident then make it a nod to some obscure no supe comic character and certainly not a low brow joke name.

"Agatha remains one of Marvel Studios' most intriguing upcoming projects"

If the word "intriguing" now means "unnecessary", then okey.

Apophis71
Apophis71 - 5/13/2024, 11:11 AM
@DocSpock - Intriguing can just mean mysterious, as in less idea of what the story will be and direction they are going with it compared to most. Defining anything as necessary or not is always questionable as we never NEED any specific show or charter having a show or film, not even for someone like Iron Man, even if we want them and until we see what they do and where it leads to hard to say definitavely if there is a narrative reason for something or not.

End of the day a film with an A list character can turn out garbage and a story on TV with a new or obscure one can turn out brilliant, time will tell if this will be good or not.

@Vigor - We also got quicksilver with FoxMen too, sucks that Marvel studios basicaly did the gentlemans agreemant thing of having one each in the main of the twins and Whedon's tendancy to want to kill off a significant character but is what it is...

...and multiverse saga we could get QS back again with either actor or a new one at some point.

While this version of the Salem Seven seem to be OC’s as does Aubrey Plaza & Miles Guetierrez-Riley’s characters…

I do like that Agatha’s Allies it seems will be versions of characters from the comics such as Lilia Calderu , Jennifer Kale & Alice Wu.

Anyway as much as I enjoyed Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha , this is one of my more least anticipated MCU projects as of now (though I’m intrigued to see how they expand the magic corner of this universe).
