AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Showrunners On Bringing 'Mockingbird' Into The Mix

We know that GI JOE: Retaliation actress Adrianne Palicki will join season 2 of the Marvel tv series as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird, and in an interview with CBR Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen discuss the character, and her big-screen crossover potential.

Probably the most exciting Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 announcement to come out of San Diego Comic Con a while back was the casting of former Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki as major Marvel superheroine, Mockingbird. Since that though, we haven't heard much about how Bobbi Morse is expected to be introduced, or what the long-term plans for the character are. In an interview with CBR, showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen give us some idea of what we can expect.

"Well, we're very excited to have the beloved character, Mockingbird, on the show. Adrianne Palicki was a perfect fit for the role. She was someone we pictured from the beginning. It's thrilling to have a nice, sort of skilled, sexy spy in the mix. And I think with the handful of characters that we have added to the show, it's just to illustrate what the new S.H.I.E.L.D. may look like. Coulson is operating with limited resources, so he has to bring people into the fold. So it may feel like we're expanding a lot, but really, the people that you will see are basically the people we have at our disposal."

When asked what it was like getting their hands on a marquee character that could easily have found herself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tancharoen replies that since it's been very clearly established that they both exist in the same universe, all of the S.H.I.E.L.D gang have crossover potential -- and Mockingbird is certainly no different. Though the character most likely won't be depicted as having any actual superpowers at first, in the comics she did gain enhanced strength and agility after being injected with super-serum, so it'll be interesting to see if they touch on that at all. There's much more at the link below so be sure to take a look.
