The actor most known for his roles in James Cameron movies will be playing the character known as John Garret (Who was introduced by Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiwicz's "Elektra: Assassin" miniseries in the '80s.).

The character is described by show runner Jed Whedon as "a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson, with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger. When Garrett got his promotion to Level 7, he refused to sit behind a desk and doesn't like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He's going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two."

I can dig it. Maybe they'll cast Michael Beihn in something next. Word Association. Paxton made me think of Biehn since they both worked with Cameron a lot in the 80's. Biehn would be a good fit in the MCU.

Probably because of the Desperate and Crying trolls that invade Marvel related articles and splatter grafitti all over the comments threads. They really make this site hard to want to visit.

@grif I admire your consistency, sir. I've never seen you waffle on this or your stance on Abrams.

It's 4 episodes, probably because that's all they could afford him for. I bet it would take a ton of money to get him into a TV series full time. But, maybe if he's popular enough, they bring him back for part of the season next year.

Big fan of Paxton, he'll be a nice addition to the show, in any capacity.

So they cast an actual character from the comics for four shows and people still complain. lol Some of the people here are quite amusing.

Show needed interesting character. Hope the writing talent can live up to Paxton's acting talent

This is great news. He should add a good dynamic for a while. And hopefully his presence will improve the acting of some of the other characters. And I hope he comes back once in a while as this show grows.

The best news however is that they are actually attempting a 4 episode arc, especially considering they've barely been able to run a 2 episode arc. This show will not last more than 2 seasons if it sticks to the stand alone episodic formula. Glad to hear they are mixing it up.
