*spoilers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. follow*
Wow, it's been half a year since I wrote an article for this site. It's good to be back.
So, as I'm sure you all are aware, Ghost Rider showed up on this season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It seems like every season the show gets better and better, and this was no exception. While even I was a bit wary of them choosing Robbie Reyes at first, actor Gabriel Luna threw all my concerns away within the first episode. Fans loved him, and if Luna's comments are any indication, a Ghost Rider spin-off could be coming our way very soon.
Here's the problem--which Ghost Rider should get their own show? Johnny Blaze showed up in episode 6 of this season, and he's by far the most badass and well-known Ghost Rider. On the flip side, Robbie Reyes is the character that resonated with fans, and many viewers are wanting him to get his own show.
Here's my pitch: Two Ghost Riders, one show. How would this work?
In the mid-season finale, it seems Agent Coulson is well aware of a previous Ghost Rider. And Johnny Blaze gave Reyes his power, so we know he has a history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His story is pretty well-known, but it's not like his origin isn't worth exploring. I propose Marvel shows this via flashback.
We can have Reyes in the present day, returning to Earth from wherever he and Eli Morrow went to and seeking vengeance for the demonic power that's inside him. In flashbacks, we'll see the origin of Johnny Blaze and some of his first stories come to life. Then around the halfway point, they'll meet, perhaps recreating the fight from Reyes' first run. And then the showrunners can take it where they want it; having one of them permanently take over, them having to work together to take down Mephisto's nefarious plans, etc etc.
Sooo... whatcha say?
