The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a largely cohesive place with characters such as Maria Hill and lesser known characters like Agent Sitwell crossing from the big to small screen. Marvel has such a unique opportunity in Agents of SHIELD to continue the stories of many film characters that are unlikely to reappear. Here is my slightly obscure list of MCU characters that have yet to appear in Agents of SHIELD, that I believe would make an interesting episode in the shows second season.
5.
Chirstine Everhart (Leslie Bibb) from Iron Man/ Iron Man 2
Christine Everhart is a little known Marvel character and her inclusion on my list is slightly odd. However, the character in the comics is a journalist for The Daily Bugle and with the recent deconstruction of SHIELD, it would be interesting to view the story from a journalistic perspective. In the Iron Man films, she appears as a Variety reporter but she could switch to current affairs prior to the episode. The hypothesised episode could feature Everhart trying to discover the truth behind SHIELDs collapse but she gets caught up in the action forcing the team to save her. In the grand scale of the MCU, SHIELD has a large black mark next to it and having a journalist report positively on the organisation could help to re-establish SHIELD.
4. Harley Keener (Ty Simmons) Iron Man 3
Another character from the Iron Man series but a personal favourite I would like to see appear. Harley Keener is an original character who helps Tony to rebuild his Iron Man suit in the third film. The kid was smart, witty and clever which made his performance stand out for me. He could appear in an Agents of SHIELD episode, inspired by his ordeal with Tony Stark he joins one of SHIELDs training academy programmes helping the team in a situation. It would be nice to see Keener appear and learn how he was influenced by Stark.
3.
Frank Grillo (Brock Rumlow) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A favourite from the Captain America sequel and undercover HYDRA operative who was seen surviving at the end of the film. Whilst his character will almost likely feature in the third Captain America as supervillain Crossbones, I would like to see the character appear in a flashback capacity. This episode could follow Coulson and May as they discover many agents, who were their friends and allies, were in fact HYRDA double agents. It would be good to see the cracks in the organisation early on without anyone noticing or suspecting the truth. It would be a good fan service to see Coulson or even May team up with Grillo in a series of flashbacks just to highlight the deception that lay dormant in SHIELD for so long.
2.
Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) Thor/ Thor: The Dark World Darcy, the trusty assistant to Jane Foster played comically by Kat Dennings would be a welcome addition to an Agents of SHIELD episode. I would love to see the on screen chemistry between Darcy and Skye and Simmons who all share a quirky personality trait. Darcy’s episode could feature a plot revolving around physics (Darcy’s background) that would require her, along with the team, to combat the dilemma. I would personally like to see Dennings reappear as I fear moving forward and as Thor heads cosmic, the character will be shown and developed less in future films.
1.
Batroc the Leaper (Georges St Pierre) Captain America: The Winter Soldier Batroc, a French mercenary for higher, would make an excellent SHIELD episode. The character has a unique fighting style which came across well on screen although few members of the team (possibly May?) would stand a chance in a fight against him. The character villain for hire past means he could be shoe horned in many stories that would involve the team simply taking him down. The character could be linked to a recurring plot, with Batroc just being used as a pawn in a larger plan. Either way, I believe this is the character that should guest star most, especially with a fair comic book presence over the years.
Are there any other MCU characters that have yet to feature in Agents of SHIELD that you would like to see appear in the second season. I know my episode plans are rough, but these are just characters who unlike Maria Hill, will likely appear in the show or feature prominently in any movie.
