Speculation has been running rampant since the reveal of the blue guy in a tub on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Is the water just blue? Is the alien blue? Is it even an alien? So what exactly is going on around here?

Things we know:

  • Coulson died and was operated on/brought back

  • Fury went to great lengths to hide the truth from Coulson

  • Coulson has been "re-mapped"

  • Skye's mother died and she came from somewhere possibly off Earth

  • Blue guy in a tube with markings close to Kree promo pics from Guardians on the Galaxy

  • Kree mentioned on AoS and known to be in Guardians of the Galaxy

  • Vial said GH.325

  • One of the more popular and, in my opinion, most logical theory is that the blue guy was Kree. Many reasons for this can range from the blue skin to the "X" markings on the body. More important than this is that Guardians of the Galaxy is a gamble from Marvel Studios. The characters are relatively unknown to the general audience and so bringing the Kree into the AoS gets them an introduction to the general audience.

All of this brings me to my final point. On another editorial here, a user, Killuminatic, posted this in the comments section:

Notice the name? I googled that name and saw that it's the name of Mahr-Vehl, who is the Ultimate version of 616 Mar-Vell (aka: Captain Marvel). What I also noticed on the wiki site was that the comic he was introduced in came out in March, 2005. Seeing that the vial was labeled as GH.325 I can see that meaning Geheneris HalaSon with the 3 standing for March and the 25 standing for 2005 (just omitting the zeros).

Sure this could be a large stretch, but I thought it was interesting and coincidental and wanted to expand on or give more credence to Killuminatic's comment.

Additionally, Mahr-Vehl's secret identity on Earth was named Dr, Philip Lawson and was working in a laboratory. Phillip Coulson could possibly be the MCU's version of this by either being a project of Mahr-Vehl's, which would mean the lab they invaded was Kree/SHIELD, or perhaps he is Mahr-Vehl himself, mind transferred into Coulson's body.

If that is true, then perhaps the drug given to Skye will wake up some latent abilities to turn her into either Spider-Woman or Ms. Marvel as others have speculated.

    Finally we have this image:

Anyone who has more knowledge of the cosmic side of Marvel, are you able to shed light or possibilities for what the other initials/letters could mean? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Nice theory. I wonder where Killuminatic got the pic with the Geheneris HalaSon on the bottom.

The 325 for March 2005 is a really good idea.

I think if the blue alien is Capt. Marvel, then he is trying to regenerate. Scientists have been siphoning his blood (or whatever) so he can't complete himself. Maybe with the bunker destroyed, the siphoning of him will stop, he'll regenerate himself, and come out at the end.

I think wookiefit76 is onto something with the regeneration idea. I'm also very Sure that he's a Kree and that it will open up powers in Skye. The only thing that I'm not sure of is the Mar-Vehl connection only because he's a very powerful figure I the Marvel Universe. I do think AoS will serve as an occasional launching point for some characters but I'm not sure about launching one of its most powerful from there.

Nice write up, @Caps. Very interesting and I like @wookies idea.

First vial - EH288 ?
Second vial - SH317

Not sure on the vials althought the H seems the only connection between them.
NovaCorpsFan
NovaCorpsFan - 3/15/2014, 2:55 PM
Okay, so the H is a continuing trend and the numbers seem pretty random, however dellamorte has made some good links there.

Looks like S.H.IE.L.D. is amassing Eternal, Asgardian and Kree bio tech and using it to generate their own superhuman army. I think that'll be the MCU equivalent to mutants. Genetically engineered or people born with dormant powers, like Scorch and the twins. S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to b using alien tech, which is cloaked to telepathy, as the Clairvoyant can't see how Coulson is still alive. Centipede is using all the earthbound power granting substances, Extremis, gamma rays and whatever else. But they're trying to get in on alien tech because they're after Chitauri stuff.

It's all kind of convoluted, but there is definitely a sort of, building the superhuman population going on.

@wookiefit76: The text at the bottom on the pic was Killuminatic just typing out the name. The name wasn't on the picture, but rather just his text under it.

@sikwon, dellamore1872, nomadic1, GoldenOne33, and NovaCorpsFanClassicCollector: Thank you all for contributing ideas! I am still relatively new to comics by many standards so hearing you all drop ideas like that is awesome!

I'm sure the letters and numbering have some sort of connection. Marvel doesn't showcase stuff like that for nothing at all. Look at the board behind Selvig in Thor:TDW for proof of that! They seem to love to put subtle things out there in our face that may be dismissed/easy to overlook.

In any case, Killuminatic deserves the credit here for opening this can of worms.

There was alot on the board behind Selvig. I might analyse it later see if I can find anything.

Wow! You guys really took the idea and ran with it. Nice! It makes sense the more I think about it to. In Secret Invasion, Kree come to Earth, hide out and study, prep for an invasion. In Avengers Thor said to Fury that we signaled that we are ready for a higher level of war. Maybe this is the next step. SHIELD killed a Kree, doesn't want to tell society so people freak out, and is trying to understand it and build counter measures.

Maybe, since it's in the desert, it's near Roswell and he's one of the original aliens captured.

Wtg wookie. You really started something. I can't even begin to speculate one this one. The cosmic side of Marvel has always been a little out of my 'realm'. But I really hope that Skye becomes Abigail Brand.

I think we're gonna have to record our conversations at work. I thought we kinda came up with the idea about the same time as we were discussing it. You def said the whole Roswell thing, but I'm positive I said regenerating and the siphoning his blood stops him from completing it. Either way Dumegg if I pissed you off, I'll say sorry, it's not worth a friendship. But I think we were going back and forth and it was at the same time. To show my love for you, go visit my article on Ladies Night. I know you'll love it.

The way the show is going, Skye will be some random woman on page 8 of Avengers 25 Vol 1 page 21. Right smack dab in between the Huffy bike ad and the Twinkie the Kid ad. She have 3 lines consisting of "How are you?" "Can I get you anyhting else" and "See you in a bit you crazy cat". Her powers (if she gets any) will be flight and strenght because that about sums up 60% of the characters powers in the comics.

Bearjew - 3/15/2014, 8:04 PM
[frick] Spider Woman that's such a retarded idea. She's probably an inhuman which is why it wasn't painful when she was injected by GH-325 because the Inhumans were created by the Kree, I think the guy in the tank is Geheneris Hala'son but is the father of Captain Mar-Vell which is why they share the same surname and I believe the Clairvoyant is either MODOK Or the Kree's Supreme Intelligence, the reason I believe MODOK is because he could be seeing through machines which is why he couldn't see into the bunker to what happened to Coulson just like the signal on the phone didn't work down in the bunker.

Marvel drops lots of hints in their movies in regards to characters and plot. Information on a black board is just as likely to be something really cool (616) as it is to just be nothing at all. Having said that there is definitely alot going on. Whatever they are doing, once it all comes together were going to be caught by surprise and just like wow! Marvel appears to be a firm believer in "go big or go home".

I think you're on to something here, and so are the others contributing to the theory. I, personally, think the GH is the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of the Mutant Growth Hormone (of course, Marvel doesn't own the rights to the word "mutant." Also, I know I'm not the first to come up with this). Also, in the comics, the Kree secretly came to Earth thousands of years ago to experiment on humans with the Terrigen Mist, resulting with the creation of the Inhumans. The Terrigens were mentioned in an earlier episode of Agents Of SHIELD. Also, in Iron Man 3, it is revealed that there is a blank slot in the human brain and humans (in the MCU) are destined to be upgraded. Could the Kree be responsible for the slot? This slot is what allows humans to be upgraded by Extremis and the Centipede serum, so it's probably what causes Inhumans to be upgraded by the Terrigen Mist.
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 3/15/2014, 9:19 PM
I wonder if the blank slot in the human brain (in the MCU) is what allowed Captain America to be upgraded by the Super Soldier Serum, or the Hulk to transform after the Gamma accident (as well as the Abomination, Leader, ETC). This reveal is a possibility considering we know that Agents Of SHIELD will tie-in to Captain America: Winter Soldier.

I am almost certain that alien thing in the tube is Kree because it has the exact same markings on his skin as Ronan The Accuser has on his armour in Guardians Of The Galaxy:
