Has Marvel pulled another fast one on us?

"This is an origin story." Deathlock said that in the first episode of Agents of Shield. We didn't know that it was Deathlock at the time but we know it now. That brings me to the point of this brief little thought of mine. Marvel is doing it again. In an interview Marvel's king of all things awesome was asked about the possibility of a female led super hero movie. The usual suspects were bandied about, Black Widow and Captain Marvel. Then Kevin (yes we're on a first name basis at this point) the great said something interesting, "I like the idea if we're going to do a (female lead) do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an original story." That, boys and girls, is Skye. Marvel is using Agents of Shield to create and introduction to an all new character that will appear in the movies. Agents of Shield is all about character introduction. (Yes it's brief on purpose.)

I could see Skye becoming a superhero. Maybe even someone from the comics. I'm rooting for Spider-Woman.

I don't see it happening, but I wouldn't be upset with it. Lots of people hate Skye, but I don't find her nearly as irritating as some of the other characters.

I don't think they would just jump right into a film with her though. If they do decide to turn her into a established hero, it will happen on TV first. The mystery of her background/survival is one of the more important plot elements of the show at the moment, and they wouldn't just drop it on the show to pick it up in a movie.

If they want to pick her up on the big screen, they'll finish her plot in the show first. Perhaps an AoS television movie would be a good first step. The movie would mostly feature the AoS characters, but they could probably get some Sam Jackson, Colbie Smothers, and some of the others to join in. If it were promoted correctly, it would draw in both the film and TV audiences, and they could THEN consider pulling her into the mainstream films.

@Humby... That's the point. To fully develop her on the show first.

Well we know for a fact that Coulson is Captain Mar-Vell.

So making Skye Ms Marvel will be in line with her comic book origins.

Makes sense

@AgentZero, really, we know for a FACT that Coulson is Captain Mar-Vell? Really, that's been confirmed? Ummm....no, that's just another theory (and one of the dumber theories, btw.)

I think when Feige said do an original story, he just meant use someone new instead of Black Widow, who is currently the only established female in the MCU. He could have been talking about Capt. Marvel or Scarlet Witch. I am open to the possibility that Skye becomes Spider Woman, but I don't think that was specifically what Feige was talking about.

Spiderwoman sucks, Skye is an inhuman, the blue man is a Kree (Geheneris Hala'son) and Captain Marvel will be featured in the show though it'll be Mar-Vehl first.

So are you implying that Skye would be Captain Marvel in her own solo film? I'm unsure about this but i do agree that a female superhero should be completley new if it's to be a solo movie.

If they will make 'Skye' a superhero, then they need to recast her. Cause that wang chick sucks total ass.

Could Bill Paxton be Mar-Vehl? Just odd for a star of his caliber to do a hand full of TV shows like this. Just idle thoughts over the morning cup of coffee.

If Skye wasn't super annoying I wouldn't mind her as Spider-Woman

No way is she Ms. Marvel but she will definitely develop abilities to do with her history together with the GH235...

I don't think she will be Captain Marvel or Spider-Woman. They are pretty big characters in the Marvel world and I feel like they would get better actresses to play them.

I feel like Skye is going to be a lesser known character or maybe even a new character all together that's related to something we already know like the Inhumans or Kree perhaps.

I think she may be an Inhuman or an Alien that will become more now that she has been injected with GH325.
