The Future of AGENTS OF S.H.E.I.L.D.

How I think the team should evolve through season 2, and add more characters possibly.

Ever since we found out that Skye got hit with the alien blood, I’ve changed my thoughts on which superhero I think she will be.  I had been saying Spider-woman all long, but not I’ve decided to change like most.

I think the future of the Agents of Shield is going to change a lot.  I think by next season we will see them in fact being the start of SWORD.  I think Skye will become Abigale Brand.  It only makes sense because she is half alien by assumption.  If not fully alien, so who else could join the team?

First off Deathlok I think at least for a time will be on their side.  I see him joining up by the end of the season.   I still think they need to add another hero to the team, so yet again I say bring in spider-woman.   Have them make her origins in the TV show and pick her up for the team again, she needs some live action love so bring her into SWORD (since she’s been an agent in the past).  Also of course Ms. Marvel I think should at least somewhat work for them at one point and time.  Unfortunately I think this will solidify the fact that we won’t see Mockingbird in the MCU.  Lastly I still think Coulson should become US Agent.  He worked for S.T.A.R.S. in the comics which was very close to the same as SWORD, so bring him into onto the space defense team. Plus just because they are known as SWORD doesn’t mean they can’t still help out in the earth’s surface.  Heck they might not even have to stay in their space station the whole time.  What would the team finish up as by this plan?

  1. You would have Fitzsimmons still, two scientists.
  2. Ward and May, the two normal humans who still kick butt.
  3. Abigale Brand, small amount of powers, able to translate to alien languages.
  4. Deathlok, would be the firepower of the team.
  5. Spider-Woman, would be infiltration master.  Small amounts of bio-electric shock would give her some firepower, but being able to climb walls would be her biggest asset.  Also I would hope they give her a gliding suit of some kind, not as ridiculous as her comics version but a more realistic.
  6. And lastly Coulson as US Agent, essentially a not quite as good captain America.  Get a shield from one of Starks prototypes in CA:TFA.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think that’s a heck of a team, 8 people in all.  None of them so powerful that they would make the others useless, but a powerful enough team to take on just about any mid major villain out there.  I don’t think it would be too crowded either, especially with 22 or so episodes, you can give plenty of character screen time to each one.  Also leaves room for killing someone off, yet they still have enough people to carry on.

So what do you think? I'm crazy? Good Ideas? Sound off below.

Crazy.

No way will they turn agents of SHIELD into a total super-hero team. Just won't happen.

Not only will it not happen but also, Spider-Woman belongs at Sony. Want to know why? She's part of his universe and they own everything directly related to, Spider-man.

Also, Coulson is US Agent? No way.

US Agent is way too rough tough and stuff with his afro puff. He's totally grizzled. Coulson is too nice to be him.

Spider woman doesn't belong to sony. Jessica Drew is one of the netflix shows. She's going to be a defender.

Agents of Sheild is about creating new characters not really pulling heroes from the comics. Maybe parts of origins but they're clearly doing new stuff.

She may have appeared with Spidey, but so have the Avengers and a lot of other characters. Her origins are not tied to him at all, so Sony has no claim on her character.

I have no interest in seeing her on the show, though.

There is no excuse not to implement Mockingbird into the MCU, especially regarding this theory. I will say it again, if they can put irrelevant characters like Agent 13 in the MCU they sure as hell can add Mockingbird who is a bada** female character. Marvel needs to make it happen.

Yeah...616 Spider Woman has nothing to do with Spider Man. Ultimate comics does, but those comics dont establish the rights for the movies. So......Sony does NOT have the rights to her. Unless they do Peter Parkers daughter. Spider Girl they would own.

And I can see Abigail Brand being a possibility. Somethings definitely going to happen to her and Coulson now that they have that Kree serum in their blood. Coulsons a normal human, while we dont really know who or what Skye is. Will be interesting to see how the serum effects each of them.

@Wallymelon That's Jessica Jones not Drew

Damn you @dougie!!!

I put this theory into the comments yesterday!!!! I want credit!!! Lol.

I do think that AoS is an origin story for SWORD. But I don't think you'll see them IN space. I believe they'll have them as an Earth-based team (at least for now). Really want Coulson to STAY Coulson. Very much agreed on Skye being Abigail.

@EdgyOutsider, that's not necessarily true. Yes, Sony owns anything related to Spider-Man but Marvel Studios own everything related to the Avengers and our friend Spider-Woman is a member of both. As are the other Spider-Women, including the Ultimate Comics version. These are called split-contract properties. This is like how Fox and Marvel Studios are both allowed to use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. However, they'd probably have to find a change of superhero name or use one of her other aliases. Also, I could definitely see Marvel completely making Agents of Shield superhero oriented. Many people stopped watching the show and it doesn't have great reviews so they are desperate to change it up and breath life back into the show.

While Jessica Drew does belong to Sony, she doesn't have a Netflix show, that's Jessica Jones.

I don't even know why all of you care about Spider Woman, there are so many better places this show could go. This is not the same Shield. Shield is about getting your hands dirty and being something of a villain, to get the job done. When this show can do that (which it can't), it will start to be great.

From everything I have ever heard, Spider-Woman belongs to Marvel, not Sony.

As for Skye being Brand, if she is, they will have to do a lot that will be different from the comics. I actually wonder about whether they would want to use a third character (after Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) who has connections to both the Avengers/Shield and to the X-Men. I think it's more likely that she is an original character who kind of fits in the mold of Brand, but is not called Abigail Brand.

@Dethpillow. Exactly! Put it like this also...

Jessica Drew=Marvel
Julia Carpenter=Marvel
Mattie Franklin=Sony
May Parker=Sony

Theres your Spider Women, and Spider Girl. Mattie has most of her backstory intertwined into Peter and Madame Webs. So im pretty sure she would be Sony. May Parker is the daughter of Peter in another timeline, so naturally Sony could use that. Ultimate comics Jessica Drew doesn't change the fact Jessica Drew has already been established on her own and with the Avengers in the 616 universe since before Marvel had their own studios.

Someone should die in the series. Skye. not because i hate her, just because i don't feel there's future for her. She shouldn't become a character of the comics. What's going to happen with her? Who is she, really? Is she going to...? Meh, just kill her.
