RUMOR MILL: Marvel Studios Rebooting AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Characters For The MCU (With The Same Cast)

While it may look like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is no longer considered canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's now said there are plans in place to reboot certain characters with the same actors!

In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.

There's a lot of back and forth online about whether Marvel Television shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should now be considered "canon" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, with rumors swirling that Charlie Cox is playing a new version of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, that might give us an idea of how the characters Marvel Studios wants to use will be handled in future.

Now, Giant Freakin Robot is reporting - from the same "trusted and proven" insider source that told them about Tom Welling's return in Crisis on Infinite Earths and plans for Doctor Strange in WandaVision - that there may be plans for key characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Marvel does want to bring back the characters from the show, but will treat them as new to audiences," the site claims. "It will essentially be a soft reboot of the property and characters that will act as a tip of the hat to old fans while being completely accessible to anyone who never saw Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

It sounds like the characters will make individual appearances in the MCU rather than reforming as a team, an approach that does make sense.

After all, why would Marvel Studios leave characters like Quake, Ghost Rider, Agent Coulson, and Deathlok on the shelf just because they appeared in the ABC series? We've already seen how the Darkhold was rebooted for WandaVision, remember.

The site also hints that there are definitely plans for Chloe Bennet, though the entire report should be taken with a grain of salt until we hear something from more reliable sources. It's also not 100% clear whether the same actors will be used, but it does sound like that's the tentative plan right now.

@SanFranLand - Coulson is already in the MCU though. He was in Iron Man 1 and 2 and the first Avengers film. So he is a canon character.

@gordonh7 - "rise", as in everyone in the MCU thinks he's dead due to Avengers 1 and never seeing him after that. 'cept anyone that made an appearance on AoS.

The more the merrier.

"Nah, I don't want that"... well, Disney doesn't care, you're one in a billion.

AoS WISHES it had that many viewers.😏

The ratings were pretty abysmal by the final season, so I don't think the people with the lack of concern are in the minority.

This is exactly what they should be doing. With the Netflix people too.

@IronDean2099 - I believe that is also a rumor, that they will be doing the same. Although, I wonder if they'll bring back the same actor for Iron Fist.

I felt like he was a bit better in 2nd season of his own show. Was the best when handled by folks for Luke Cage's season 2.

@Turtlestrong - last I heard, Disney was planning on bringing back cox, bernthal, and Ritter, but not Mike colter or Finn jones.

@Turtlestrong - it would stand out so horribly if they brought back half if them and not the others. It would stand out so much if Cox and Bernthal showed up with two or three other random new actors. The actors were not the problem with any of those shows.

@thunderpun573 - I really liked Mike Colter...on the fence with Finn Jones.
