In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.
There's a lot of back and forth online about whether Marvel Television shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should now be considered "canon" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, with rumors swirling that Charlie Cox is playing a new version of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, that might give us an idea of how the characters Marvel Studios wants to use will be handled in future.
Now, Giant Freakin Robot is reporting - from the same "trusted and proven" insider source that told them about Tom Welling's return in Crisis on Infinite Earths and plans for Doctor Strange in WandaVision - that there may be plans for key characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Marvel does want to bring back the characters from the show, but will treat them as new to audiences," the site claims. "It will essentially be a soft reboot of the property and characters that will act as a tip of the hat to old fans while being completely accessible to anyone who never saw Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
It sounds like the characters will make individual appearances in the MCU rather than reforming as a team, an approach that does make sense.
After all, why would Marvel Studios leave characters like Quake, Ghost Rider, Agent Coulson, and Deathlok on the shelf just because they appeared in the ABC series? We've already seen how the Darkhold was rebooted for WandaVision, remember.
The site also hints that there are definitely plans for Chloe Bennet, though the entire report should be taken with a grain of salt until we hear something from more reliable sources. It's also not 100% clear whether the same actors will be used, but it does sound like that's the tentative plan right now.
