DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN - New Details Revealed About White Tiger And The Punisher's (Scrapped?) Story Arcs

More details about Marvel Studios' original plans for Daredevil: Born Again have been revealed, including plans for White Tiger and how his story arc ultimately connected to The Punisher. Check it out...

Daredevil: Born Again, in its current iteration, has been scrapped by Marvel Studios. The entire creative team was fired and only a few scenes from those shot are expected to make it into whatever comes next.

We recently learned that [SPOILER ALERT], following the death of Foggy Nelson in the premiere, Matt Murdock would have given up being Daredevil and not suited up again until roughly halfway through the 9-episode first season. More legal procedural than a superhero series, this take on Daredevil: Born Again has been described as boring and, we kid you not, sleep-inducing.

Earlier this month, we heard that "The Trial of White Tiger" would be the show's first big arc, with Matt taking on the vigilante as a client after he stopped a mugging. In reality, the muggers were corrupt cops and, when one accidentally died during the scuffle, White Tiger is deemed a "cop killer."

Now, we have additional intel, revealing "Matt would've tailed the surviving cop to find the 'informant' as a witness for Hector's trial.  After finding the informant first, Matt would take their place to save them."

"The corrupt cops are surprised to find Matt waiting for them. But they don't care that he's the informant’' lawyer and start to beat him up...until a gun is pulled and the devil is unleashed. Matt would then notice the Punisher logo tattooed on one of the knocked-out cops, setting up the next arc."

This lines up with reports that the Man Without Fear was set to track Frank Castle down after encountering corrupt cops inspired by his unique brand of lethal justice. We doubt The Punisher approved but, between this and Wilson Fisk running for New York City Mayor on the promise he'd stamp out vigilantes, the idea was clearly for Daredevil: Born Again to explore the place of street-level heroes in the MCU.

Again, we don't know how much of this will make it into the next take on the series but it's possible the story will remain largely the same with what sounds like some much-needed added action.

Daredevil: Born Again doesn't currently have a premiere date.

So Matt, a blind man, would notice a tattoo?

The execution might've been shit, but in paper this doesn't sound too bad.

I'm cool with them bringing more street level heroes into the fold. I'd like to see the Luke Cage as mayor plot adapted from the comics down the road if they bring him back.

Marvel Studios Daredevil: Born Again I think the issue with Daredevil is this character not much you can do with him with his limited powers.

Daredevil Kingpin and Bullseye not many people he can fight. None of the Overpowered Marvel Superheroes needs Daredevils helps except as a Lawyer in Court. I think this is why we haven't seen a Daredevil movie, yet he fits more as a television show.

Even She-Hulk took out Daredevil out fast.

@AllsGood - So you think no power means the character is "limited"? the character has had like over 500 issues printed. WITH SOME AMAZING "STORY TELLING".
If you're watching these series just to see the character use their powers then you should be watching maybe 5 minutes of a 6 episode series.
Daredevil is a character for mature viewers. There has to be a great plot, great dialogue and great acting.
Oh and a nice fight scene that lasts 6-7 minutes without any cuts too.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - You tell me why Marvel Studios hasn't done a Daredevil movie yet after 32 movies in 15 years?

@AllsGood - dude, batman has less abilities than him. Heightened senses are incredibly versatile. Then you add in his gymnastics, stealth, and martial arts and there's plenty to work with.

@AllsGood - as for why marvel hasn't used him, well when they acquired the rights they wanted to expand their cinematic universe to tv. Separating the street level stuff to shows while leaving the large scale spectacle made sense post avengers. And daredevil is the most well known street level hero in marvel not named spiderman, so he was ideal to lead the TV side of the mcu.

Really not hard to follow.

It's so messed up how the MAGAts and "patriots" use the punisher symbol.. like you're the type of person he'd off in a second.. lol

This will have been the 4th appearance of the Punisher and the 4th time he’s portrayed going after corrupt government officials. We get it, police are mean and racist. Can we just have him go after actual crime families like the Maggia so we can start introducing more of his rogues gallery? Sick of these activist writers shoving their personal feelings down ppls throats. Punisher vs someone like Bushwacker is what ppl wanna see. Not another corrupt cop in the MCU, so [frick]ing boring and unimaginative. I’m glad they got fired

“ Not another corrupt cop in the MCU”

Have we gotten many corrupt cops in the MCU?

I don't care what is cut or whatnot, as it'll never see the light of day anyway (whether it's just rumoured/fake or real). Only thing I care about is that they take the time with this show.

Always thought 18 episodes was a lot, so I hope they cut it down to 12 and release it in two six-episode seasons like Loki. Just don't end it on cliffhanger.

He doesn't suit up until episode 9? That's just dumb and they actually wasted resources on this which Feige should've cancelled from the get go.

@SirDuckAlot - it said halfway to 9, not in episode 9

Why did they ever think having him not suit up for multiple episodes was a good idea when:

a) The first season of Netflix DD is beloved and yet people still complained about him not being in a proper suit early on.
and
b) They already had him suited up in She-Hulk so it's not like this would have been a build-up to seeing him suited up in the MCU for the first time.

I don’t hate the idea of making it a legal drama but certainly don’t want it to be boring. Bummer we won’t be getting it sooner but I’m glad they’re starting fresh to get it right rather than delivering something subpar.

The storyline can stay but the execution of it all could be changed drastically.
