We recently learned that Better Call Saul and Mr. Robot star Sandrine Holt will play Vanessa Fisk in Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again.
The news raised some eyebrows as the character was previously portrayed by Man of Steel actress Ayelet Zurer across all three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil. The actress received glowing reviews for her work in the series and many fans are understandably disappointed that she will no longer star as The Kingpin's better half.
Holt is a huge talent, however, and we're sure she'll put an exciting new spin on a woman who has served as both Wilson Fisk's conscience and someone who has often encouraged him to head down some pretty dark paths.
Recently, Zurer took to Instagram to share an article which addressed her Marvel Universe departure, and while she didn't reveal the reason for her absence, she certainly sounds pretty disappointed.
"Sad to not take part," she told her followers. "But I will always be Vincent D'Onofrio’s biggest fan."
As of right now, we don't know whether scheduling issues are to blame or if Marvel Studios made the decision to take this character in a different direction for reasons that have yet to be revealed.
While Daredevil: Born Again is set to be a loose follow-up to the events of Daredevil, it's also essentially a reboot that officially brings the Man Without Fear into the MCU. With that in mind, we don't expect Marvel Studios to be beholden to casting or creative decisions made by Marvel Television, hence why Vanessa being replaced isn't that much of a shocker.
Despite there being plenty of photos and footage online from the New York set of the Disney+ series, Marvel Studios hasn't released an official first look and we don't anticipate getting one for a while yet, unfortunately.
Daredevil: Born Again is still expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
