DAREDEVIL Will Possibly Be Renewed For A Second Season; Outline Already Penned By Drew Goddard

Even before the first season's release and before it proved to be such a success, an addition in the long-running "Sony Hack" emails confirms that Daredevil will be receiving a second season, with the season outline already being penned by Drew Goddard, the show's former showrunner. Read on for more!

After a first season, which was well-received and critically-acclaimed, fans have been hoping for a second season for Daredevil, but many doubts have arisen due to Marvel/ABC's already packed Netflix line-up of other street-level heroes, which will lead to The Defenders. Those doubts may be put to rest after the "Sony Hack" emails continue to leak.

A recovered conversation between Sony exec, Amy Pascal, and Drew Goddard, which takes place before it was publicly announced that Goddard would be leaving the show in order to focus on other work, most particularly Sinister Six. This soon led to legal troubles between the former showrunner and Marvel, which can be seen here. However, it was mentioned that Goddard not only worked on the first season, but he also penned the outline to the second season. It was also mentioned that payments for the second season had already been planned and made.

"It does sound however like Drew is insisting not just for $250K in connection with the initial season of the show, but also payments for the second and potentially subsequent seasons as well."

"And I can’t get a straight answer from anyone on either side

Drew a position is that he could always have written the pilot only
And I fact he has now written several shows and outlined the second season and they have brought in a replacement as a show runner who is a friend if his"

With confirmation of development being made, when do you expect to see Matt Murdock go on his solo adventures once more: before or after the release of other shows such as The Defenders? Whichever way they choose, it will be worth watching, based on the critical succeess of the the first season.

@batz11

These were discussions from last year when they were working out Drew's commitment to both DD and Sinister Six. So no, still Deknight running things.

Not even sure if they'll use Goddard's outline. Is he still involved?

All this says is that the previous show-runner wrote an outline for a second season a year ago, before the first season was even filmed. How does that confirm a renewal?

Waiting for something more relevant and concrete rather than emails from over a year ago.

Yeah, I don't really think this "confirms" anything...of course they prepared for a 2nd season, but doesn't mean they'll do it...

It is obvious that the second season of Daredevil will be released on April 2016!!!!
Daredevil is way better than every MCU movie except The Avengers.

Apologies for the slight misleading title. Also, the litigation and lawsuits that went down with Goddard and Marvel were crazy; they must have resolved the situation pretty well if they're supposedly about to let him helm the Spider-Man reboot.

If this does get a second season, it could be placed in the same structure as the Marvel Cinematic Universe; the first seasons of the shows that lead up to The Defenders, and the show itself, will mark Phase One. In addition to this, the second seasons of the shows and the addition of new shows with other street-level heroes could form Phase Two.

good news. I really like the show. More episodes like "Rabbit in a Snowstorm", Shadows in the Glass","Nelson v. Murdock","Daredevil" please. Cox is surprisingly great. You gotta give it to D'Onofrio - his character is growing on you. At first i was like "no", but after the eight episode my hate was gone. Also the finale gave me the real Kingpin, with just a one give a [frick] attitude - Vanessa. Another great pieces of casting are Rosario Dawson as Claire TempleVondie, Curtis-Hall as Urich and Peter McRobbie as Father Lantom.

But for me the one who really stole the show was Toby Leonard Moore as Wesley.

Also worth mentioning :Deborah Ann Woll. There is some great chemistry between Karen Page, Matt and Foggy.

Great Cast.

the bad ? Foggy trying acting humorous, Kingpin problems with speaking, the costume (although we all know by now there will be some upgrades), too much scenes involving Matt past (The Stick episode). Also the fate of two characters didn't do it for me ( i think you all know about who i'm speaking). Shoulda left them alone.

anyway ... imo Daredevil tv series is second best thing that happened in Marvel universe right after TWS.

I don't think they would use all Goddard ideas anymore. Daredevil is now DeKnight's baby. He has said it is the thing he's most proud of in his career; and that he has a lot of ideas for 2nd season. Of course he could always work with Goddard, they're friends after all.

@Sleeper

i give you a hint: first character shoulda stay longer because he has pivotal role in Marvel Universe and he was there since forever. I was surprised by his departure.
Second character was so awesome i almost cried. I dig his fate ... but man ... what a loss.

I think you mean the third character (the actor was really great, the character was so slimy). He had a son so i think his will be the villain.

You're right, I forgot he had a son. And, yeah, we should be seeing him next season. And I know those you're referring to, now.
